Not sure on stock length, but measure from U-joint centerline in trans, to U-joint centerline in axle as the car sits on its wheels. That's the length you need. Even if you find out the stock length, I would check this anyways to verify it's correct.

I had a guy in Elkorn Wisconsin (Elkhorn Driveshaft) build one to order per his measurement technique, and it fit perfectly. The brand new driveshaft, came with u-joints both ends, and was $185. I thought it was a bargain, AND he was a nice guy too.

Don't mess with used ones if you can help it, you don't know if they are out of round, or bent. In my case it would have cost more to determine if it was ok, than to just build a new one.

Stock length can be found in the AMA specs on this site.

stock was a tad longer according to that, measured center-to-center of u-joint cups. 49.96 standard, 49.3 w/ th400

Camaro and Firebird had the same length drive shafts when they had the same trans. the th350 and 4sd used the same shaft. the th400 had a shorter driveshaft and a different trans yoke

I was going to say, but 4da' beat me to it. When you are refrencing the slip yoke relationship with the transmission, it MUST be sitting with the car on the wheels. IE if the car is on a jack,
stands, or a lift with the wheels hanging, you will NOT have an accurate measurement. And yes, the center to center of joint measurement is what a driveline shop wants to see.
