When I finally cranked my car over and started it yesterday my windshield wipers turned on and then froze in the upright position. My switch was off and I have since knocked on the motor and tried unplugging it, and disconnecting the battery also. I can't get the darn things down for anything. It is getting juice to the motor, what would have caused this and how do I fix it? Thanks.
The wiper transmission may be jammed or frozen. Check if something fell into the cowl, or disconnect the arm from the motor and see if the wipers move when you push the arm. Your wiper motor may have seized.
Also, check that your switch is grounded to the bezel. The switch should ground using the metal strap (hard to describe), it's a metal shim stock approx. .004-.005" thick which allows the switch to ground.
I found mine was missing, since a made a new one my switch has worked perfectly.
