Has anyone bought any parts from Tamraz? http://www.tamrazs.com/ They have a pretty good selection and some of their parts have a pretty good price. BUT, I haven't ever seen a reference to them on here so I figured I would ask around.
People badmouth them for their poor e-bay etiquette and customer service. I've had no problems with them. I got lower control arms from them that at the time weren't available anywhere else. I've also got other stuff from them too and have been satisfied.
Parts may be ok,I have no experience on those, but you will be held hostage for ransom = good feed back on EBay.... until you give them good feed back you wont get any.... which its not how its supposed to be.....If i`m selling something and someone pays me , I give them feedback based on them paying me, not based on how happy they are with my part! and leaving myself the chance to 'retaliate'
We`ve had some 'discussion' on this site w/ Ms Tamraz about that policy...she joined this site for a short while b/c of this..
For the most part the parts they have are cheap chinese repop's, but who doesnt these days? I didnt have any problems with them. Just make sure you get the part you need right and feedback given.
I dealt with them once pre-E-pay. The parts were OK, but my issue was how they packaged them - with very little newspaper.
I have preferred to pay a couple bucks more from somebody else and get stuff well packaged. I found that UPS was pretty rough in Phoenix.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
They also will only ship UPS. Up here in Canada UPS charge around a $30 "brokerage fee" when USPS/Canada Post charge a $5 handling fee, so on smaller orders they are no good up here.
They do have a few items that are hard to find tho, have yet to order anything yet, but may have to at some point.
My experience has been good, shipping is not a concern since I pick up the parts. But, in general they like people who pay promptly, as any business should.
In a business transaction, if I'm greeted with I'll beat you up if you don't like the way I play, the vender can rest assured that they'll have no problems from me. Simply, I won't do business.
As with Epay, I don't care how lame of excuse the seller can come up with, the facts speak for themselves. If you wish to focus on the negative, it appears to be a dominate force. If you step back and look at the the total package, it's more than clear that the large majority is on the up and up, the reason that Epay has turned into such a mega-giant.
The thing you have to do is sort things out. Sellers who threaten to beat you up, even before you buy is something that needs to be thrown in the trash can before a problem can arrise. Sellers have a distinct advantage on Epay. They don't release merchandise until payment has been made and cleared. If they don't pay, or the funds don't clear, then beat 'em up--DUH!
By the way, I have read that some sellers ship before checks clear because most of the payments clear. The ones that don't are just the cost of doing business. It's funny, these sellers happen to be in the group of people who are making megabucks on Epay
It's a 2 way street: I have made 2 pruchases from Terry. Excellent vender and strongly recomended. Based on my experaince on the board, I wouldn't hesitate with making a purchase from Bill.
Going down street the other way, if they threaten to beat you up when you take a peek in their shop windows, they are lousy vender, and I wouldn't recomend them.
Bjorn and 68BLKBRD are right on. Their parts are all low quality, but you get what you pay for I guess. I won't buy from Tamraz again just because the feedback situation and also they shorted me some parts and after a couple phone calls they still never made it right.
i had a problem with them over $1500 in sheet metal for my 69 2 years ago.they said it was all on back order and put me off on all the parts for close to 5 months(not a typo) after becoming furious with this i called up the parts place and asked them if they had these parts they said yes and i told them my situation with tamraz he said that he supplies tamraz with some of their restoration parts.I also checked with year one and classic industries for stock on these items, they all had them too.i wanted to buy from tamraz because their prices were reasonable and they were close by.when i confronted the owner of the company with the situation i was talked to very rude.my wife then spoke to her and was hung up on.I called several times after that demanding my money back and eventually i got it back $1 short(not a big deal just the principle of the matter).Needless to say that i will never do business with Tamraz or any other company that treats their customers so rudely or talks to them like they are a total waste of time.I'm sorry i just gave you $1500 i would like to see my parts it.the money was for parts it wasnt a donation!anyways I have also heard people who have firebirds say they have had no problems with Ms. Tamraz and her company and thats great.More power to them. But I will not stand to be talked to or receive nasty emails in the matter that tamraz and it employees gave to me.thats all i have .just thought i would share my experience.its stuff liket this that almost makes you think twice about restoring these wonderful vehicles.
Some other eBay vendors, not listed below, pre-sell products and ship them long after your money clears.
I recommend the following folks for Pontiac Firebird parts. These have shipped quickly and in the instance of used parts, they were exactly as promised.
68 Bigbirds list is very close to the one I use...
Bill Edmunds , aka FirbirdBill has email earlybrds@aol.com I have also had good luck with Chicago Muscle Car web page Ive used Classic a lot ,very good source BUT since they sell mostly Camaro Parts ,you got to know what you order b/c some are 'generic', some are not... also Paddock has been a good source web page
and I havent bought from Rock Auto or D&R , but the others are good... Terry is very good helpful...my first two sources when buying or me recommending to others are FireBirdBill and Terry
Bill and/or Terry are the best bet for hard to find original parts.
D&R is a Camaro vendor but they dabble in some Firebird parts. They carry sheet metal and for those who visit the Carlisle show, or other shows they attend, they bring a lot of panels, including 400 hoods and complete floors. Shows are the best way to buy panels because of shipping costs and shipping damage.
Rock Auto sells mechanical parts, like bearings, brushes, suspension parts, alternators, starters and that sort of thing. They carry a full line of Moog. They carry many parts, such as control arm bushings in Delco.
I forgot to mention, Pacific Auto Warehouse. They sell engine parts. I've only bought a balancer and some lifters from them. Their prices are pretty good. http://www.pawengineparts.com/
I was held hostage to TAmaraz's feecback policy, I called them several times, sent them ebay policy letters on how and when you are to get and give feedback. All I got was verbally abused by them. Then they claimed they had fired the women who had said all the nasty things to me, yet a week later I called back and she answered the phone, I spoke again to the woman who claimed to own the place and she said She didnt care if me or any of my friends ever bought anything from them, We wouldnt make a ripple in her yearly sales.
So I told her I would do my best to make sure everyone I knew was aware of there Wiillingness to hold hostage just to get positive feedback. Lousy customer relations and there negative attitude.
Her reply was good we dont need you or your kind anyway.
So would I buy anything from them?????
Very happy with Ames. NPG Classic, Year One or any of the rest. Just take a minute to look around, you will find the samething somewhere else.....
This is EXACTALLY what I wanted to hear! Real bird owners with REAL feedback! Tamraz's prices really are not that much better but I wanted to check it our before I ordered anything.. Thanks a BUNCH for the help....
The key to retail is customer service. If you can't do this detail you simply do not belong in that business.
All statements should be discussed on a professional manner, even if the customer themselves is not following that rule. Sarcasm or rude comments will not improve communication. You have to be able to keep your cool.
I've passed one or two auctions by people before, simply based on their attitude in their write-ups. I can't expect if there is an issue, they are going to be any more professional once they have my money than they are before I've even considered purchasing from them.
I have bought a couple of things from them, i.e. th400 crossmember. Their feedback policy is a little weird, but whatever. There are plenty of sellers on ebay who suck more.
