I have a 1967 326 2 barrel and I am replacing the the carb with a holley street advenger 670 cfm. My question is There is a soilonid that is bolted to the stud on the factory carb that gets accuated as the linkage moves. Is there a new bracket to buy or make to get this to work on the new carb.? What is this soilonid used for and can it be eliminated. It will not line up with the linkage on the holley with the stock bracket. Thanks TRAVIS

I believe that will be the idle stop solenoid should it be air conditioned. Could have to do with the transmission kick down, but I don't think so. Bottom line is I probably should have stayed out of this one in favor of someone that knows.
did some searching and I think its a th400 kickdown switch. at what point should the switch close during the travel of the linkage? I'll have to fab a new bracket for it. Thanx for the reply

Since you're using an aftermarket carburetor anyway, replace the kickdown switch with a (normally open) microswitch. It'll be easier to locate with a custom bracket. Lots of folks would be interested in buying an original kickdown switch for their stock engines. They tend to get lost when people modify their cars, and they are not reproduced.
Rossetti-- Where whould I place the microswitch relitive to the travel of the linkage? I understand that at some point the linkage needs to hit the switch but should that be at 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 movement of the linkage? Did you do this on your car? Where in WI are u from? I live in East troy.

When I had an ST-300, I used a microswitch to call for a downshift at WOT. The transmission won't downshift if the car is going too fast for the lower gear, but under all other circumstances if you floor it, you want it to downshift.
Mine was triggered by the mechanical linkage on the secondaries of my Quadrajet. Yours will probably be different. But that's why I recommended the smaller and more easily positioned microswitch.
Now I've got a TH-350 and it has a downshift cable.
