I just installed rally gauges in my 69 conv. When I was taking the dash apart the rod that goes to the headlamp switch pulled out. Now I can't get the thing to go back in. Are there any tricks to putting ths back in? Help.
There is a trick to pulling it out. You need to press the button on the side of the switch. It should go back in with no problem. You could try pressing in the button on the side. Maybe you broke something internally if you removed it without pressing the button?
Sadly, I haven't found a way to do it without leaving skin on the brackets behind the dash. However, my 12 year old can get his arm in there nicely. Can you borrow or rent a kid?
I know what the book says, but you can also give it a quick snatch to pull it out. GM technitions started doing it years ago and have been doing it ever since. Also, you did it. It's out--corect? To install, push to the point where it bottoms out. Holding it by the edges with one hand, apply pressure, then rap it sharply with the heel part of your fist.
Well I guess I get to lose some skin. My kids are at the lake for the week. Do you have that guy with the long fingers cell #-He might answer if he's in town.
