I just recently bought one from Classic Industries and am very pleased with it. It fit just fine and the chrome plating is high quality. I just havent figured out the best way to attach the bumper emblem without messing up the chrome.
I found the one I got to be marginally adequate and inferior in quality to the factory original. Some day I want to get my real GM bumper trued up and rechromed.
My car is at the paint shop. Since the guy is cutting me a good deal on the paint job I didn't nag him about removing the bumpers and left it up to him. To his credit he's taking at least the front bumper off.
Now that it's off I'm thinking of replacing it. My front bumper is in great shape but needs to be rechromed (a little.) So assuming that buying a replacement is cheaper than rechroming my current one, who has the best bumpers?
Are the Classic Industry ones as good or better than anyone else's? I really want the bumper to have great chrome and to be a drop-in replacement.
Thanks and PLEASE hurry with any replies so I can order a bumper in the next day or two.
I chose to re-chrome my front bumper, it is for a 69 though...cost me a shade more than the re=pro, but is heavier ,sturdier... my "chromie" (Fidel Bonilla) does that for a living in the daytime ,does some 'moonlight' work in the evenings....I paid $275 to get mine ding free and re chromed, 3 yrs ago... check w your local "chromies"...

Thanks a bunch for the awesome tips. OK, I'll save my sheckels and have my front bumper rechromed some day. It's a nice 15 to 20 foot driver quality as it is.
I don´tknow about the front bumper but my rear bumper from NPD is hard to tell if it´s a old re-chromed or a " a drop-in replacement bumper" if you stand behind and just look at it. And for that price ( about US$ 100 ) You can save lots of money or buy other parts if you compare with the price of a re-chrome one. I think the rear bumper fit just fine and the chrome plating is pretty high quality. Okey I saw it was about front bumper but anyway

Tom, who did your rechrome in Canada, was it Cambridge Chrome (they advertise bird bumpers)or did you drive just across the border and have it done?

Had my front and rear bumper re-chromed for $400 off of my 69' here in Indiana. A place that has been in business a long time called Shelby Plating in Shelbyville about a 45 minute drive east of Indy on I-74. Excellent job.
