did pontiac make different length u-bolts? i can't use the old u bolts after changing the rear end because they are too short. but no one has longer ones ( or i can't find longer ones anyway. can i just use chevy staps and hardened bolts?
there is a 1/4 inch gap between the strap and the yoke. i am thinking of stacking washers in there. what do you think??? by the way fbody. i agree with you on the other post. yea, technology is great, but it makes things very complicated to work on. i would love to see someone take a newer car, rewire the engine compartment and change a trans in one afternoon.
Yes, what did you swap? I went with a Nova 12 bolt, and I had to change to another u-jiont, one with big ends on the shaft and smaller--or differently positioned--ones on the rear's yoke.
it is actually my brothers car. he has a 72 chevelle and put a 68 gto rear end into it. but when he got to the offset universal, things just didn't line up. we went to the store and purchased a new set of u-bolts, but they were the same length, and still too short. there arent any threads in the pinion yoke either, so thats not the situation. i am just so confused on this one.
