anyone know someone who does convertable tops around columbus georgia or montgomery alabama ?
It's beggining to look like i will have to do it myself.
my average conversation around here; THEM; hello ME; do you install convertable tops THEM; yes sir, we are the best in the souteast ME; i have a 68 firebird with just a frame and need my top installed THEM; we dont work on cars that old ME; do you know anyone that does THEM; no, most places wont touch them because so many parts have to be replaced
my interior guy says he will do it IF i can find another 68 drop-top to pattern by.
does anyone have a exploded view of the top frame and header (top of windshield) or maybe a good set of instructions for putting on a top?
and or maybe these guys can help you out some? They have always been VERY helpful in answering questions and giving out info. http://www.convertibleparts.com/
Check around with some interior shops and resto shops that specialize in hot rods and older cars... there has to be some one close by that is a pro?
I think it's not that hard to install, BUT.... Getting it to the right tightness, and without wrinkles is the key. There is also some glueing involved.
Thats what you have to consider. Experience is worth something. Good luck.
