I am a brand new owner of a mediocre 68 coupe..I am sure to need some help as I restore it..Love this site, but it seems to have limited particapation. I see alot of questions close to a month old with no responses. Are there other sites more dedicated to tech questions and answers?
I think that many peple go directly to the person asking the question , by clicking on the question mark after the purple date in the heading! There you usually find the email address for the person and is a more direct answer, but if the answer can be used by many , it is prob. listed here! Took me awhile to finfd that email address myself , but has been useful , you get directly to the person and won`t have to wait until he gets on to this site! Bjorn
I see....but yes...I often look in the tech area for things I am interested in...and feel I can learn alot from the many people in here..might not be something I need now...but with every answer, I become a bit more knowledgeable...I hope people will post answers on the board so we can al learn...thanks for your reply
I agree , I have learned a lot from the postings myself, but eventually I figured that this is what`s happening. Maybe I am incorrect, but.... About 1/2 of my postings have got answers. But it seems the more complicated the question , the easier it is to get an answer , maybe some of my questions were thought of to be too easy ( that is that I should very easy figure it out myself , or that someone else surely would answer!)

Actually, the reason you may not see as many posts is that most of the members are signed up on the mailing list and communicate that way... You can choose to either recieve each reply email as they come in or as a once daily digest of all the emails for the day. The second option is the one I use... But in this email forum is where the real questions and answers are!
You should look into this... on the average there are about 25 postings a day! And all the messages are archived ans searchable!
The Tech Help forum was simply created as an alternative for our mailing list since a few people do not want to participate in a mailing list format.
Down side to this is what you have seen, splintering of participation with most of the support and die hards using the mailing list. The mailing list messages autumatically go to the subscribers while the web based forum require the participants to go to the web page. This will reduce the amount of participation especially combined with the email directly feature (mentioned in previous reply). I for one like the mailing list especially with my software's custom filtering.
I had reservations adding the Tech Help to the Classifieds and only did so since a few asked for it and did not see how it could hurt.

I for one still prefer the 'tech help', seems to excactly what its suppposed to be. The firebird e-mail list ( I have only seen a few so far ),seems more complicated , I seem to heve some problem figure all that outand has a lot more than the tech help. Personnally I like a tech help specific page. Easier to go to for help , erather than sifting thru lots of 'talk'. But to ea. his own. I will continue to look at this spot daily! Bjorn
