I’m currently trying to correct the hack job the PO of my coupe made of the dash bezel. I had to buy another cut bezel to have something that when done, will look somewhat professional.

The panel that was in the car has provided me with a good place to start as far as how I am going to mount one of these DIN style AM/FM CD players. In cleaning up the PO’s cuts, I have a good idea how to mount one of these units.

I had searched all over to find some way to blend in these units because of the angle of the dash. The face of these units of course must rest perpendicular to the floor of the car, like the factory radios did. That leaves the unsightly frame of the CD player exposed along the bottom and sides.

My solution to this problem was an adaptor purchased from Crutchfield. The deepest one I could find is part # CGM390M. It’s an adaptor for ’95 & up Chevy Caprice. I’ll have pics of the some of the steps taken to accomplish the task at hand at a later time.

Now back to the subject of this post. The dash bezel is secured in place by four screws at the top. I am having no luck in finding the fasteners that these screws go into, and I’d like to know what others have found to solve the problem.







The fasteners used are nylon press in, about an inch long and a quarter inch wide. They have a slit in the center to receive the screw. I have had no luck in finding a part # or something close to these fasteners. I’m still not giving up the hunt though.

I’m going to need four of these so I can mount the bezel as before. I’d also like to get some more for the convertible when I tear into the dash to correct and replace some parts behind this one.

All suggestions are welcome. So for now

Auveco has them in their catalog, purchased a set from my local dealer last year. Unfortunately I can't seem to recall the part number, but you can probably drop them an email directly for details.

I used an adapter for a Volvo and an Alpine cd player with a face plate that allows you to adjust the tilt angle to 3 positions. Seem to work okay. I might paint the adapter plate to match the color of the dash.

Ohio AutoKolor there in Columbus is an Auveco dealer. Their local store here orders Auveco fasteners for me, then again, I've bought a couple k$ worth of materials from them.

Tom, if you can pick up an extra set this week, I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

As many times as I've had to remove my dash bezels I'd like to have a bag of them. I'll try to get some before this coming weekend. I'd like to have the coupe done before the toss of the coin decides which 'bird I drive up for the Cruise.

I stand corrected. Upon reinstallation of the coupes dash bezel, I found not only the top four grommets are used, but along the bottom edge there are three of the same fastener needed. There is one of these fasteners to the left of the steering wheel and two to the right. So a total of seven are required.

Tom, I can see many MANY uses for these on our cars! In places folks can't see but you need the the anchor hardware to really sink in and tighten up. I need a bag of these myself!!
