The search engine now returns dead links to old "Ramblings and Chatter" threads that have been removed. That's unfortunate in my opinion. Just an observation since I use the search tool frequently. Dave
I rebuilt the search data after I pruned the topics. I will watch for a good time to do this again and take the board down to do the maintenance. Thank you for the feedback!
Kelly , if you`re reading this , can you figure out a way to 'share' your/our HALF CD/DVD "why cant we all be friends" with everyone here? Or did Johnny Mac not post it to his website? Can we find it.... I think its a great 'share' ,showing how we in HALF get along .....having fun...which is what its all actually about , isnt it?
Thanks Geoff for providing us with this forum Thanks to all of my online friends here for being just that, great people! I'll be honest and say that i have been turned off since November as to the nature of the beast the site has taken on. This was a great part of my day to visit and learn about FGF's as well as share what i can, when i can. What seemed like a well oiled machine of a forum suddenly got a knock and was firing on only a few cylinders and instead of turning off the motor to asess the damage, we kept on driving it.I used to enjoy coming here but it almost seems if it is a foreign land to me now.I just wanna be back home.Hopefully all of this debacle will disapate and return to it's once gloriful self.I see it coming.... I hope thats what i see Hope you all had a wonderful holidays.
David

I always miss the fireworks too. Just figured that it was that time of the year. I am spending too much time actually working on projects to be here every night. I figure with the "bad ones", they are just fishing. If you nibble, they're gonna try to hook ya. If you look at their posts and fail to respond to stirring, baiting etc. they will stop trying to bait you. Every response, no matter what the tone, will fuel their ego and they will continue to escalate it. I agree with Banshee as to limiting the punishment to the offenders, but we are guests on Geoff's site. His way or the highway. P.S. Glad to see that you stuck around Vikki. The last time I was here was just after the roast.
John
To err is human. To really foul things up takes a computer.
Apparently I've missed a lot too. I try to at least frequent this site a little a few times a week. I've been quiet for a while, and haven't had much time to read everything that has happened here. This site has been great in terms of great people and knowledge. I enjoy learning more about FGF's and meeting fellow enthusiasts. So why exactly did Vikki leave? She is a great asset around here in my opinion, and a good person too. If you're listening, come back Vikki. And thank you Geoff for this great site too. Hope everyone is having a good start to the new year. My project bird has been sitting now due to a cold garage, hockey season, and numerous household projects. Take care everyone.
Another hockey fan. I love it! Congrats to our (Canada's) National Junior team for their world championship win last nght. They hammered the Russians 5 zip. My son Landon was invited and attended early tryouts here in Alberta in summer of 2004. He spent a week in Calgary at a hockey camp that would eventually identify players for Canada's World Junior team. Although he did not not make the many cuts it was a great opportunity for him. Two of the boys that attended the same camp eventually made the World Junior team and made major contributions to this victory. Congrats to them all. " Go Canada Go" Jimbo
Hey , not only up there...I`m a Hockey fan too! & used to play... played in school in Sweden ,then here in Houston...amateur league 69-85...we used to practice with the "old" Aeros team ,so I was actually once on the Ice with the all time Great Gordie Howe! my 1 minute to fame!
GO CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS!!! 8 STRAIGHT LOSSES. THATS MY TEAM!!! SOX win the WS, Bears are picked 4th favorite to win the Super Bowl,,,, figures Hawks would suck I just couldnt have it all could I?
Hey Bjorn. From one old hockey player (50 this month) to another, keep your stick on the ice. I heard a good joke once. A guy is at his bosses house for dinner and the city Detroit comes up in conversation. The guy says to his boss," The only thing from Detroit is hookers and hockey players." His boss stares him down and says, "HEY BUDDY MY WIFE IS FROM DETROIT." The guy swallows hard and says. "Oh...... um what team did she play for.
yes , I`m an even older player , 62.... BUT when I played we had a 56 yr old playing with us, v.p. for Shell here in houston, granted he wasnt the fastest , but I give him credit for just tying the skates on! Also on my team we had a couple of retired pro players ,the Danish Jan and Paul Popeil , and "Heinze" formerly from LA Kings.... I used to change next to Heinze , and the last thing he would do after changing ,he`d take his teeth out and put them in his bag!
"Keep your stick on the ice!" I like that...one of my few "damages" I really got was from someone putting a stick thru my upper lip! Not very nice! (But I scored on that shot! = worth it!) luckily my dentist who also was our referee had his medical bag with him and his nurse as his date... he got me stiched up on the ice ,he didnt want to take the time to get off the ice ,he wanted to stich me while I was still numb... he told his nurse to sit on her knees, then to me, "put you head in her lap, look into those beautiful eyes, and you wont even know I`m stiching you up" and he was right! next day was BAD though...couldnt laugh w/o holding my mouth ,it streched = hurt...so everyone was telling me jokes!!!
NICE, stick through the lip. I never had that happen to me but I did that to a guy at work. I was new to the company and he played. We went to rat hockey and a guy lifted my stick, went right into his bottom lip. Straight through. We went to the locker room, taped it up,,, and kept playing! Hockey is great!
Mine was thru the upper lip, 6 stiches...had a moustash for years after...shaved it after 15 yrs, no scar!! But a bad lump/scar on the inside... when it happened I didnt even feel it, it just irritated some , put my glove up, looked into it and thought "THIS GOTTA HURT!" blood everywhere ...lol
Broken bones, dislocated shoulder, broken nose, stitches to mouth, concussion, many pulled groins and a bad case of jock itch equals 40 yrs of hockey from minor to junior and senior mens .Loved every minute of it. Jimbo
Just found out that our UPS man was in the big time. Randy Jaycock (I think - I'm a lousy Canadian!) played goal for St.Louis and for Calgary about 10-12 years ago.
Funny thing, I wouldn't get out of bed at 5:30 a.m. to go to hockey practice, but I got up at 4:30 a.m. quite a few times to hop in the truck and haul the race car 120 miles to ice race.
I don't drive a pickup, don't drink beer, don't watch hockey (unless it's Edmonton vs Calgary, or the playoffs - sometimes), don't swing by Tim Horton's for a large coffee/expresso/latte/mocha/capachino (doughnuts!), don't think that "Toronto is Canada", don't care for fish, lute or otherwise - oops, that's the "lousy Norwegian" list - you get the idea!

The "Toronto" thing is almost grounds for deportation, but as long as I pay my taxes, they put up with me. Jim, you'd likely fit in here better than I do! And I keep forgetting to say eh when I'm oot and aboot!
Bjorn, I thought the Swedes were the ones that sprinkled the lye on the Norwergians' fish to try and get rid of them!
Get out, hoser!!!! Go, Wings!!! I don't like to mention the Red Wings much because I feel like I'm bragging!!! But after the Lions I need to brag up the Wings!!!! Those poor Preds.
