As I was looking thru my scrap book of the 1967 Firebird that I have owned for the past 32 years I came across this Dealer Post card that was sent out to prospective buyers for the New firebirds... I thought I would share it with everyone. John [img] [/IMG]
Here is when my car was ordered from the dealer... My neighbor ordered this car as Maroon with red interior and the factory rejected the order and would not build it with that color combo, So she then reordered it as maroon with white interior and she added a white top. notice how the dealer wrote the order with the color in the upper right corner, Then notice the dates. I was 10 years old when she drove it home Brand new! I liked it so much that I asked her if I could buy it from her when I got my licence she said yes! well 6+1/2 years later I did get my licence and i ran to her house and said "I want that Firebird" she said Ok give me $600 and I did. well it is still in my garage now (32+years now) Boy am I glad she changed the color..... Wonder if I could get a good deal on that white convertible goat in the front row.
quote:

$4300? if you just use your DeLorean and go back in time! I have a postcard on my ofc wall (a card like they would send out as advertising) ,its a 69 carousel red convertible, white int., I think a 400? if memory is right ) not sure how I can post it , but I can send a pic in an email to someone who can ,if interst is there...
I assume Pontiac did some heavy advertising prior to these cars being released, She placed the first order 1 day prior to these firebirds being released....Smart Lady !
I have a VHS tape of the slide show they would show. Funny with the beeps. I have been trying to find it as I want to convert it to a web friendly format and post online.
Also wish there was a way I could put the '68 Dealer -- Album (forgot the actual title) on the web like I did for the Sales Album. No real way for the fabric samples to show...
I forgot you had that. I would have to squeeze it down for the site as I don't want to do the math on the extra it would cost a month at that size. Probably be too small to enjoy.
And thank you, Vikki, for sharing that! I loved it!
All this stuff from when some of us were busy with Sizzlers (yes, I had the '69 Firebird TA - in brown - and it did get converted - #9 of 5,642 and counting?) and other things instead of paying attention to history being made at the local Pontiac dealer!
I'm pretty darn good at converting VHS to DVD. (I have a near pro-level Analog-to-Digital converter.)
If anybody wants to trust me with their original VHS Pontiac tapes (Vikki?) I'll convert them to DVD. I could then make FREE copies for folks if they pay for shipping. ($3.00 or so.) Why free? Nobody can nail me for copyright infringement.
Anyway let's get this WONDERFUL stuff archived! I could do a data DVD with all the JPGs of various brochures and stuff and a movie DVD of all the period VHS things. Well?
As a minimum, PLEASE let's post more of your scans! That Poncho dealer lot is absolutely priceless! I'd LOVE a poster of that!!!!
Smitty , I have a few commerials from the web...here, see if any are 'new' to you... web page
and I`ll have my post card scanned... it states on the back , handwritten' where you would write address: ,"Hi, new 69`s at cost, Jim Johnson" , its a gm/pontiacs card and says as a divider " break away-1969 wide track pontiac" and at bottom of text side: Oaklandon Sales Co, Inc 11820 PendletonPike Oaklandon, Indiana
front pic is a 69 carousel red 400 vert. w parchment....with a couple in bathing suits on a beach..
I`ll also scan my "salesmans button" ,its a +_3" dia. metal button with pic of bird and says "the magnificent five"... then maybe someone can post my scans for me...
in `68 when I drove one of my dads Volvo P1800`s ( a demo)to the beach, a girl jumped up and sat on the hood , KAPLONK! a huge bowing down ,( I wouldnt say dent ,because it went away after I got her off it!), but I almost had a heart attack... a brand new car, and an expensive one at that...it was $4500 for Gods sake! (1968!) she wasnt big , just cute ,but still got that hood to bend down...luckily she wasnt big enough for permanent damage... unfortunately for me , I over-reacted enough that she lost interest!
thanks Kel (one can always depend on you!), heres the text that should be part of it ,where it didnt scan right : "Hi, new 69`s at cost, Jim Johnson" on the divider it says " break away-1969 wide track pontiac" and at bottom of text side: Oaklandon Sales Co, Inc 11820 PendletonPike Oaklandon, Indiana
is this a Dealership close to someone?
And the salesmen evidently wore these buttons, 3" diameter
Had to post my vintage wind-up (no quartz movement here)deluxe steering wheel watch again, thread seemed fitting: Band is obviously not original. Was made of a rubber sort originally. They also made a GTO and Pontiac watch.
