I am thinking of purchasing an aftermarket 400 hood for my 1967 firebird. I am looking for some feedback from anyone who has purchased one. Who did you purchase it from and how is the quality and fit. Also were there any modifications required for the latch?
Hi, no, I didn't personally purchase one, but a good friend of mine did, (he lives about 15 minutes from here) the only place that had one in stock at the time was I believe Aurora in or near Buffalo NY, it was a goodmark Industries hood (I think that they are still the only ones reproducing them) the Quality was 100% fantastic, the only other feedback that I can give you on any of thier other hoods is one that another friend purchased for his chevy truck, only fault was that he needed to tack weld a couple of spots to the framework to keep it in place. The Firebird hood was welded plenty well to the framework straight as an arrow and fit Kevins '68 perfectly, the only mods for a '67 will be for you to find a '68 latch assembly other than that it is a bolt on situation, I did see the hood in EDP right off the truck with no prep work done to it-primo stuff, I'd suggest Year one and have it delivered to a place of buiseness as it will give you a $$$$ break on shipping, looking at what I have seen I would not hesitate to buy one if I was in need.
hey guys regarding the 400 hood,I just purchased a 68 bird drop top 350ci, i need many new parts including a new hood, i was favoring replacing it with a 400 hood, just seems to look better, i do have the orignal matching 350ci but the motor that is in the car now is a 400ci , any suggestions?
I purchased a Goodmark 400 hood at Spring Carlisle last year. I was impressed at first sight. It lines up well and looks great on my 68 convertible. The only thing I had to do was file the catch on the hood down about 1/8th of an inch so it would catch. I highly recommend the hood - and so does my car!
