Most current HiPo Pontiac mag has a 68 Bird with a Camaro fast-ratio pitman arm. Is there any problem with using this? Costs less and increases response. I have a 67 conv w/ 400 and a 3 turn lockTL PS box.
It will work as long as you're not using the stock exhaust arrangement..You may have to even modify your upgraded exhaust to stay clear of the pitman arm. The originals were angled to clear the exhaust. Also, to correctly add the fast ratio steering to your Firebird, you'll also need longer steering arms. Just the pitman arm isn't going to make a considerable difference..
