I dont know what I was thinking. I just bought another 69 Firebird. What is wrong with me?
This one's a 400/4-speed and it has either a 3.31 or a 3.55 posi. silver with black deluxe interior and front disk brakes. It has a WZ code engine with 62 heads. I got lazy/stupid and did not check to see if it's matching number, because I got wrapped up in the moment. But I'm pretty sure it's a 400 car because it has guages instead of idiot lights, simulated wood grain dash, console, nice steering wheel. The engine is tight, clutch does not slip, transmission shifts like butter. Posi works too. Feels really smooth and tight.
Dave, your mind is right. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with owning two ’69 ‘birds. One problem I encounter is which one to spend money on. It works out best when I can buy new or correct for my convertible, and give the hand me downs to the coupe. I do give priority to the convertible, and when it's done... I don’t have a wife to read me the riot act. So as others have suggested, spending some funds on her will appease the gods of wrath. From what I've seen, WZ & #62's is correct for auto trans A/C convertibles, and 4spd non A/C convertibles have WZ & #48 heads. I’d have to research the heads for use with 4spd/coupe and auto trans/coupe with and without A/C.
Yep, I just went through that this past fall. Trying to finish my 69' convertible and went ahead and bought another project,68'coupe. Did not make her very happy, as she say's "you can't drive them both". I went ahead and sold the coupe, made a grand on it, and using the money to finish the 69'. Someday I will buy some nice property in the country with a few outbuildings and buy as many as I want. Like I said "someday".
Dave... as Ed Roth used to say "Sick But Happy" That's sweet! Where did you find it? Was that the one in Marysville on Craigs list? Seems to mee like that sounds familiar (ad wise?) Congrats... that's great! Just let the wife know it's an investment for retirement. (don't mention to here that you'll never sell it though!) But it IS... a good investment!
I take it the white one won't get the new paint right now? Tell us more when you get a chance...
It is the car from Marysville, but I didn't see it advertised on craigslist, I saw it on traderonline.
I better clear this up quick...I backed out of the deal today. I made too hasty a decision. Hey, if any of you want it, it's up for grabs. The owner is a very nice guy. I, however am a goof.
The car needs to go to a good home. It has the potential to be a real beauty.
Now that I am without a wife I find it very easier to blow money on projects. I consider them my kids "college fund". When it comes time I just hope I have enough 529 funds for them!!
Unfortunately I am currently without a place to work on my projects but it's nice to see all of them under tarps waiting for me.
I had to sell a '68 drop top a month ago for reasons related to the Big D, and I don't mean Dallas. But i just picked up a '67 GTO-big project.
Even if it never runs....It's mine and no woman can tell me to sell it!!!!!!!!!
Well, I use to have a deep voice like james earl jones. Then I told my wife I'm buying another bird. Now I sound like pee-wee herman, and two things that use to be attached to my body are now in a (big) jar in my wifes dresser drawer.
I'll be changing my member name from "corrigan" to "eunuch".
Sorry to hear that Dave... on both accounts! (The car and the jar!)
I wish I was in a position to act on it, but with the 2nd one due in August... it will be a while... quite a while before I get the "next" project! So I was looking forward to living vicariously through you!
