If,I get kicked out of this group for this complaint big deal..At least I had the guts to speak up for all the members......

First Generation Firebird Click
Geoff,I just wanted to let you know that you have a neat website. I would also like to tell you in your website theres a click or group of upper members that think that your website is theirs..They like to harrass people that are not in their little click and have contest to see who can get the most post in so they can control the board.. From what I can tell the magic number must be around 2000-2500 to become a administrator...I would also like to add bjorn is very fair to the other members that are not in this click..but he still lets the other members in the click get away with harrassing other members not in the click.. .I think this click needs to ended because people are afraid to post because they dont want to be harrassed..out of 4000+ members you have from 10-15 members posting every day...with out saying names thats where you should start looking to try stopping this click.....because thats where the click begins..Also "fbody69" is one of the clicks leaders.. he likes to start trouble and harassing members then go's into hiding...Please email me back so i know you have got my complaint.....Thank you for your time...

John,
( I`ll be the first ,since Geoff hasnt answered yet..)
my .02

I think you are wrong about any 'click' here...not as far as I am aware of...and the number of posts really has nothing to do with being an admininstrator, except for the reason they are 'around', it may look like they are high posters......

I try very hard to be fair 'and balanced'.... I think the other 2 also are

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> ..but he still lets the other members in the click get away with harrassing other members not in the click.. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">NO , not correct...

I can see why you would feel this way. But believe me, this board is no different than any other. Don't take it personally. I highly doubt anyone is trying to run anyone off. If you have a question or observation please post it. Take the responses you get and then draw your own conclusion.

A good survival trait on the Internet is ignoring people you don't like or approve of. Makes everyone happier.

We all share one thing: an interest in 1st Gen Firebirds. Like any assembly of people, there will be common interests that will draw people together in many fluid sub-group discussions. For example, I know that I stay out of discussions of "modifieds", 90's music groups, and racing. I join into talk of factory correct stock and 60's rock.

And this administrator only has 1,100 posts but as a retired old guy, I can check in more often than others.

I just hope now that someone had the guts to say something about it..It will stop now...But if you need a example of the
"fgf click" heres one...On the subject you locked out earlier..Why is the only reply left in the subject from a member of the "click"? I believe there was also one saying you could get the same part from
www.early-birds.com but thats not listed anymore..

Hey 1969 Ram Air, I know exactly what you are talking about. You are right period! As you know I was the one who started the subject that got locked, But I also voiced my opinion there when it was attacked by that same person you are talking about and the administrators let me do that. there ere several others that wanted a site fight and I would not join in on that. As far the admins, they have been fair, the problem is, they let things start and they should not. trust me, voice your opinion, people do care. Also, you are right that other members do not post whereas they are afraid of being harrassed. that is a problem! but it is their problem. As you might know, several others left the site and started their own, That to me has been really good, it is much nicer here without them, even without their knowledge. sometimes opions are not welcome, just let them know. As you can see..Your post is still alive and Geoff and company have not kicked you off as you first stated...Trust me they know who is who.....Enjoy the site post all you want, It is a great place to be. John

I can't believe you Sally's. Rocky, we need another support group over here, some fellas got their feelings hurt.

What exactly do you expect administrators to do anyways? Frankly, I never noticed any ill-will before the repaint thread, which could of been an informative topic but instead 67 you kept pissing all over it.

Yea, you better believe I tried to launch you. All this drama is ridiculous and disrupts the continuity of the board.

69 ram air, everywhere you go,you have to start trouble.why can't you just let it go?if you spent as much time worrying what you are doing as others you don't like are doing;you would get alot more done.there is nothing in your posts that will bring any harmony to anybody.if you can't say something constructive, keep it to yourself.

Practice what you preach 69firebirdman and pass it on to the other members in the your "click"
The board as a whole knows who the members of the click are if they like it or not..All Im doing is stating that the harrasssing of posts from none members of the click needs to stop...

LOL It's "Clique" as Q said. After all, he puts the 'Q' in Clique. LOL And, at this time, I would like to salute the newest member of the clique, Johnny Mac! Johnny Mac, stand up and take a bow. Now if Sally and Nancy would straighten up I would think they could make fine junior members of the clique. The golden rule of the clique is to not step on other members and try to stick to the truth when posting. cool

No I dont see it...the "reported incidents": you talkk about , I could not see any harassment...I told you so....

your statement : other members reported the same person more the 5 time "...?
to me? not that I know of....
maybe you take these a little too harsh ,or are overly sensitive?

in any case, this is really not the forum to discuss this , I think...

this "click" thing is getting old , as it is non existent...

Too bad a couple of bad apples have poisoned your site Geoff, but I guess it was inevitable, when you get this many people put together. This site will get over all this crap eventually, there are far too many good folks here, than not. Enjoy your, uh, dialog, Kel

there are moderators for this sort of stuff

now. i don't post everyday, but do post.
different interests will draw different crowds.

alot of the afformentioned 'clique' persons are and have actually been working with firebirds for a while, have done several resto / mods /upgrades and have always been a wealth of knowledge.

lets try not to piss those people off, because i need there help once in a while too

Personally, I don't think that anyone has "tried" to form specific social groups here, nor has anyone gone out of their way to alienate a majority of the board members in any way. And I don't think that is the case.

There is an inherent social aspect to a board such as this with so many people who have similar interests... and that to me is the main draw and what "I" enjoy about the group. I consider everyone part of the group, and think everyone has the same opportunity to participate.

There are many people who feel more comfortable just gleaning the technical information they are looking for, or sharing such, while others like myself share what little we know, or at least point people in the right direction to find the information while getting a chance to get to know many of the people that are members of the group... as a whole!

Yes, there will be people who instantly get along great and find they have much more in common than just their Firebirds... and there will be people and or personalities that will clash from time to time.

For this reason, Geoff had asked for help in monitoring the posts to "try" and keep the peace and keep things going smooth. He works full time like many of us, and there is no way he can monitor every post, and keep people accountable to the rules and guidelines we all agreed to all on his own. So, he asked a few members to help him out. People who have been with the board for a long time, and who usually are known for having diplomacy in such situations.

This was not something that was needed previously, but with the number of members growing daily, there is bound to be more and more issues, and there will have to be more and more "help"

Personally, yes, I've met a LOT of great people here and have made what I consider to be really good friends. Some I've met and shared beers with, others I've never met. Not all agree with me or the way I see things, and I don't agree with all I see and read... but we ALL have a responsibility to one another, and to Geoff, to do our part to try and be civil in this public forum. This is great group of people... who all have a passion for the 1st Gen Firebird.

I can understand your perceived views, but to be honest with you, I really don't think they are on target in this case.

Sorry for the long post! I know I talk too much... but no one said you had to read it all! smile

Brett!

No-one here has a clique. If you want to call it that then fine, but here is what it is. It’s a group of adults that respectfully interact with each other and share information, opinions and stories.
It’s interesting that you bring up Johnny Mac and call him a clique member; let me share something with you. When Johnny first joined the board he made some off color jokes that were not found funny by some members. He was called on it by another supposed “clique” member. When this happened Johnny, (being an adult) apologized and just trucked on. He didn’t whine and cry that he was being harassed by clique members. He did what all adults do. He sincerely apologized and moved on. In fact, from what I see on the site he and the person that called him on his comments are quite friendly. It’s not because he has been here forever and posts all day. He is a very valued and enjoyed member of the board. It’s because he has a great personality and treats people with respect. By your definition he would need 2K posts and have been a member for years.
I don’t understand your complaint at all? All the regulars that you accuse of being a clique help anyone and everyone that posts. I have never seen anyone attack someone for no reason or deny them help.
You say that the truth hurts; well here is the truth buddy. There isn’t a vicious clique on this board; there is a group of great and generous people on this board that are willing to help anyone. Any ill will or harassing comments that you may have experienced, was your own fault. I have never seen any of these people attack someone without just cause and as illustrated earlier, even if there is a dispute they are man/woman enough to put it behind them and carry on. I don’t think that you should be pointing any fingers at anyone but yourself.
If you knew half of what these “clique” members do for people you wouldn’t be talking like this.
I can tell you that they are the most generous and caring people around. They all have my respect.

Just for the record, I haven't posted much and people really fon't know me here, but when I need some information there is a select few who are able or are willing to help me. Those few seem to be the ones with quite a few posts and tons of knowledge and are always very helpful, even when my questions to me seem really dumb. Thanks to these people.

LOL - the closest thing we have to a cliQue is the Calendar Clique. And that's disbanding in about a week or so.

As a casual board member, I see this thread as ridiculous. Almost surreal... A witch hunt?

If I have a problem with my FGF, I post it, I get a few professional answers, and I thank them. Personally I REALLY don't see the big deal.

If you're worried about an adolescent clique then behave yourself and before you know it you'll be in it. Hey, you could be like me and actually CONTRIBUTE something back to our little sub-culture other than ill will and hurt feelings.

Boo-frickin'-hoo.

No, this is not a personal attack, but come on, let's just get along we don't need this crud here.

Scott, you're not a casual member, you are a valued contributing member. One need not be an expert or a professional to have a positive outlook and helpful insight. Joe, David, Johnny Mac...the list goes on. There are so many good people here sharing a common interest, and once in a while a new friendship is started between people who otherwise never would have met.

Get a life and quit complaining about the "unfairness" and figure out the real reason why no one wants to talk to you.

No one speaks for me either... and it "irks" me to have anyone suggest they do.

I love (platonically) this site! Being of limited technical ability I truly appreciate the help I find here. smile

I have been a reader of the board for about 2 years... a member for 1...

I see no "clique". I hear no "clique". I speak no "clique".

Click... Clique, not here. People choose to post a lot or little. Relationships, whether good or bad, are formed. If it doesn't work for individuals, don't post here simple as that. If anyone here wants to be in a clique I can recommend another Pontiac site that will fill your boots. This is all reminding me about how my 3 and 5 year old kids are behaving towards each other these days - yikes!
