Need to make by 67 326 more reliable while at the same time maintaining as much originality as possible. Want to put a new Holley 2300 2 barrel on it and keep the same intake manifold. Believe several places sell the manifold adapter to do this. Anyone out there ever tried this and if so, how has it worked out? Don't want to move up to 4 barrel as car was orginally a 2 barrel and want to keep it that way. Thanks in advance for any help and/or comments.
Rochester 2BBL carbs tend to be easy rebuilds, so I don't understand why you would want to replace it with a Holley. try to rebuild your original carb before going the Holley route. If you get the carb tuned properly it will do just fine. Just my opinion!
Hi Rodey! I totally agree with Tintin. Keep the 2-jet. It's an easy rebuild. Holley will not be original at all, you know... What is the reliability problem with the 2-jet? Tell us, we can sure help you out!
I need to do SOMETHING with the 2bbl carb on my 326. I can buy the 2bbl for about a $100 OR I can buy a rebuild kit for about $20 BUT I have never rebuilt ANY carb before... are there any parts in this carb that DO NOT come with the rebuild kit that I would need to replace on a 35 year old carb? FYI:The car hasn't run since 1980. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John johnvomit@hotmail.com
The last 2BBL I rebuilt worked like a charm, and it had been sitting for a long time! The kit will have everything you need to do the job. The only thing you may have to buy seperately is a choke coil for the automatic choke, but I would try the original first. Carefully dissasemble the carb, try not to bend any of the linkage, and mark the position of the choke setting. Follow the instructions with the kit, they are usually very good. I would be happy to rebuild it for you if you want. It's up to you!
