Please allow me to open a discussion. Is there anyone out there that would be interested in getting some kix on route 66? Why let all the HALF folks have all the fun? (And gawd they do have fun)

Sounds like another "clique" to me
My most humble apologies to ALL HALF of you! I'm not that way at all. That statement was actually more of an envy sort of comment. Us Ozarks Americans would be proud to have you Texans be a part of it all. After all, when the route leaves Oklahoma you'd be half way home. The route goes through our town of Springfield MO and I run it quite a bit. When our POCI chapter hosted the Nationals in '04, we offered a number of activities on route 66 between Carthage MO & Miami OK. Everyone truely seemed to enjoy. It offers a great cruise, not a lot of traffic, tremendous history and some wonderful places to eat, stay and play. But thanks for straightening me out.
To think before Interstate 80 There was Route 66 . Went along part of 66 when we went to the drive in at POCI in Joplin. All I can say about that road. WOW Sounds like a GREAT cruise.

I'd love to see it.........and so would you!
FWIT, I'm 200 miles away from the "gang", but that doesn't stop me from hookin up with the gang from H-town 3,4,5 times a year.....surely you could put something together in a 200 mile radius J-Mac, your just the man for the job, hook 'em up
first we'll have to come up with some macho name... not another inadequate reference that hurts our car's values...
then we gotta pick a beer to worship, an import from st louis? just pick one and let me know..
next, stippers! how many and how often?
and therein lies the answer to our biggest challenge, how do we pay for it all...well with my internet abilities and a few signed model releases... it will pay for itsself..

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> my club is going to be way cooler than yours, hehe </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I wish you luck on that, if you accomplish that, I may move north....
Greg - we're out near Urbana, MO every year or so to visit the in-laws but usually bring the van. Might be a couple more years before the 'bird's got enough legs for that trip.
How can the HALF people be having all the fun? I can look out the window of my new office and 100 feet away lies Amarillo Blvd, AKA Old Route 66
Those guys have to drive for HOURS.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Well I guess that did open a discussion... 1) Johnny, You got the big nail head regarding the "why get a hotel room for the night if you can't sleep with the 'bird outside and unprotected" question...(Weather can be a major factor here in tornado alley too.) I don't have a good answer either. There are few casinos in the immediate area. They got one in Tulsa, but as far as I KNOW, they'd still have to stay outside. I think the same bunch has one in OK-city. The Crowne in Tulsa has covered parking and the rooms aren't TOO pricey. At least when I've been there for functions. Its down town near the route... We can call ourselves some sort of a club, but thats not necessarily what I was after. As for the beer, I'm a St. Louis import man myself and from whats been posted, maybe the beer shouldn't be the common denominator for the group... The st(r)ippers however could be. 2) 400, I believe you're thinking of I-40, and I'm glad you enjoyed the cruising to the drive-in at the Joplin POCI convention. I the hippie that held the entertainment chair for the convention and set that up. 3) 67b1rd, Urbana does in fact make it a small world. When you're coming back, give me a little warning and we can meet. BTW, legs are one (two?) thing, Gas money from Washington, is a complete other issue. 4) salmon, You're the one to envy here sitting right on top of Route 66 every day. Heck I got to drive almost two miles to get there. Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like we've got at least SOME interest.
"and therein lies the answer to our biggest challenge, how do we pay for it all...well with my internet abilities and a few signed model releases... it will pay for itsself.."
This will be a hardcore group, so we need to pick a brand of tequila, scotch or vodka to worship.
With your new camera, some strippers and some classic Firebirds, you can fund this with the proceeds of the 2007 Girls Gone Birds McCalander®. How do I place my order?
Hows this for a logo? If Brett gives me permission to use his arrowhead.. I bet you collectively, we can raise the values of our Firebirds..power in numbers..
the internet made everyman equal (so did Sam Colt)
Nash buddy, just trying to keep it real.. don't want no uppiddy memebers that can't hold their liquor, or worse, can't tip a lady.... would make the rest of us members look bad..
Hope you guys can work it out. I am planning a trip in my Solstice this July for a national Solstice meet in KC. The wife and I are going to travel 66 from Chicago through Oklahoma then up to Dodge City and then back to KC for the meet. I am always looking for info on 66 from those that know. Could someone recommend a good hotel in Joplin? I am alway looking for another bird, If I can snag one before they get priced out of the hobbyists hands I would love to go along.
