I had the pleasure of meeting Bjorn and Andy in Houston earlier this week.
Both guys, and their rides are top shelf! I enjoyed my visit and drank a Shiner Bock or two...
Can I be in the Shiner clique now?

This is my 3rd week as a new Texan - but sorry guys. I tried the Shiner Bock and no thanks. Not enough taste. It's Sam Adams Light for me. Too many years in Germany - my beer's got to have some flavor!!!! No Shiner clique for me

Hey, at least I tried it.
On the other hand - it was in a bottle. Is this one of those instances were the beer is MUCH better from the tap?

Well, personally, I'd be hard pressed to pick only one favorite. And Kris, you are quite lucky... you live in WA, which has a very high number of Microbreweries, and Brew Pubs, but you are also right next to Portland whish has one of the highest number of Microbreweries, and Brew Pubs in the entire country. (Colorado is said to have the most in a state with 55? But Portland has 72! Just in Portland! While WA is no sloutch with over 95 brewing establishments in all listed!) So you see, this is what we do with all the rain we get... we collect it and make beer with it! Lol... So any time any of you come up the Great North Wet, we'll treat you to a WIDE variety of any style beer your heart desires! All I have to say... is, It's ALL good! But as far as brews, my favorites are from the West. Red Hook, Siera Nevada, Widmere, Pyramid, Thomas Kemper... and the list goes on and on more than I do! Brett (drinking a Sam Adams right now Mark!)

Wow... it seems as I search more... there are quite a few states that "claim" to have either more breweries per capita (like Vermont?) or brew-establishments... (Like Main?) or... Ok, here we go Finally an actual list of combined brew establisments per state: http://www.beerexpedition.com/northamerica.shtml California - 314 Colorado - 142 New York - 101 Oregon - 98 Washington - 97 Now that's a lot of beer.. and that's a good thing! Brett!

That linked list is miserably out of date. It doesn't even have three of the big brewpubs in my immediate area, all of which have been around for at least a couple of years.

Vikki, let me know when the old man is out so I can stop by for a few hours. :p
After 14 years in Europe, I still say Hauff Hefe-Weizen is the best beer I ever had. Brewery is in Lichtenau, Bavaria. Just a few miles down the road from Ansbach. If you are anywhere in southern Germany you can get it.

Nash - close. I much prefer the beer at the Kloster Andechs southwest of Munich. That's my nomination for best I've ever had.

Wasn't it Monty Python who said: How is American beer like making love in a canoe? They are both F-ing close to water! (I still like Moose drool.)
