Here is Kevin Morgan's take on a modern-day Trans Am if GM should decide to build it. GM is watching the reaction on boards like this one to decide whether it will sell. It was a big hit on the TransAmCountry site. Let's weigh in. I would buy one!
When we travel or head to Home Depot, we use our GMC conversion van. I bought the Bonneville in '95 to have a nice vehicle for mixed business and personal use. Now, retired, we don't need that size for a daily driver. However, it would be nice if a couple sets of clubs could fit or a few bags of groceries. Been eyeing the Grand Prix GXP if we for some reason we can't wait for a "new" Pontiac model.
I think that 'slanty eyed' nose is better suited on a TA. Along with the fender air extractors and the shaker hood IMO it's an improvement over the very popular Camaro. I say, "Out with the new GTO and in with the new TA!" Keep the price down and the horsepower up and it's a sure winner for GM. Also, they could add T-Tops and loose the door handles.
I had recently told myself that I could bring myself to break up with my '94 SSE, (really nice, red, and only 64K on the clock) but only for a GTO. Now they talk about this. So tell us Jim, just how much luggage does it take? Has there been any talk of the anticipated price on the bow tie car?
Sorry guys - I dunno. I'd love to see a new Trans Am - but I don't think that would be it. I'd rather wait for something else.
The Trans Am concept has a lot of mid-late 70's look to it - which is fine, but still - the Camaro concept was more pure 60's inspired. The difference would sway me possibly towards the Chevy branded one!
I like the 70's Trans Am - but early 70's, instead of the Smokey & Bandit model. You know, the one with the twin ram air hood snorkles? What was that, a 1970? Otherwise, I'm all about the first gen birds.
As for the Bonnevilles - I had a '79. And my mother has a '92 SSEi that is an extra car right now, that I might try to score from her in a year or two when she finds she never drives it anymore. They're nice cars for sure - a bit heavy, and fwd - but the supercharged V6 has plenty of torque to get you going.

I see the trouble the car manufacturers are having; We have diverse tastes. It's very hard to please a large group with one car. I thought everyone would just love this TA. Greg, my Bonne takes three large suitcases, four large duffle bags, 8 gallon jugs of bottled water, a picnic basket, two large bags of dog food, with room left over for a couple bags of groceries. That's just the trunk! That's also a list of 'must haves' on a trip down route 66 with your wife and two dogs. Don't drink the water in New Mexico. LOL
It's pretty simple though isn't it? If GM doesn't build a new F-Body people will either restore the old ones or buy new Mustangs and Mopars. Personally I think it's cool, but c'mon do a Smokey and the Bandit tribute with T-tops!

Sorry my friends, but I have a 68 and I dont want a bastardized version of my FGF running around. To me, it cheapens and steals from the original. No retro for me. just my .02
My biggest fear is they will wait untill the excitement is gone, and the momentum will be lost, I would love to see a 68 reproded... Just my o2 cents worth , Kevin
