Anyone out there done a 5 or 6 speed manual trans swap?

I am thinking about a tremec 5 or 6 and would love to chat, talk or e-mail about the issues of console positioning, tunnel refit, shifter adaptor, etc.

In case anyone else is interested, I am gathering info for this project and have found that Richmond Gear now has a 6 speed trans available. 5 forward and one overdrive. Many choices for actual gear ratios including the overdrive ratio.

This may be a better result than the tremec as the richmond may not require the tunnel rework that many seem to think is required for the tremec to fit. Both require a reworked trans crossmember and a shortened driveshaft however.

I am researching examples of this trans installed in first gen. F-bodies for comparision purposes. More later......Dan S. 67 400 convertible - coronado gold plus more metal flake!
