Just for the fun of it post your year, build plant, date and sequence numbers from your VIN and let's see how close our cars rolled down the assembly line. Here is mine.
I have too much on my plate to piddle around figuring out the plant and year, but the last 6 are (9 coupe) 109730.
Bjorn: It's not strange. Pontiac did a lousy job with documenting its numbers--because they didn't keep documentation of what they made--so it's hard to sort things out.
The date code is 11D - I think. The rivet on the left obscures the first 1. But I guess it's not a 0 so yep, 11D.
Would that be November of 1969 or November of 1968? They had a long run that year. My sequence number is pretty low, so maybe 4th week of November 1968.

Pontiac did/does a fine job of keeping track. It's Chevy that dropped the ball.
Bjorn was still high from his long ride. His lines up. After all, the forth week of Oct. is after the 1st week of Sept.

"normally" September comes BEFORE October! I was high after my 400 mi round trip, top down ,sunburnt and all! still had rumble in my ears too!
My 69 vert: Vin: 117372 Norwood 10D = 4th week of October. Must be 1969 as the invoice indicates october - november 69. I was under the impression that only Cam....'s were built at Norwood, and all our cars were from Lordstown(and LA)???
Right now I am gathering data in order to construct a VIN/body/schedule date verification process.
Please check for accuracy before clicking "Submit" as the database is only as accurate as the data. The more cars are entered, the greater the accuracy.

Vikki, I have trim tag and VINs on three 1967 Firebirds with two known to be junked, 1 burned the other retired by another owner. Another item that may be of interest in your data collection that I noted was missing. On the 1967 cowl tag to the left of the build month/week codes is usually a three digit number. This gives even more detail to the sequencing of the car building. This number tells which car of the given week in sequence. A 100 with month/week codes 05B would be the 100th car build the second week of May, 1967. Might be better than the VIN since that number swings back and forth with V-8 versus OHC6 cars. The week sequence number will stay consistent regardless of engine installation. More trivia! Steve
I have three 1967's for you: VIN = 613130 (OHC6) 757 05D = 757th car built the 4th week of May, 1967
VIN = 117594 (400 car) 597th built 03B second week of March, 1967 (Invoiced 3/14/1967 and delivered to CA 3/27/67)
VIN = 139935 665th built 05B second week of May, 1967
The weekly sequencing number is a better indicator of where in line it was built than the VIN. The Vin swings back and forth between V-8 and OHC6 cars while the weekly number remains consistent.
I have the sequencing numbers for 98 '67s and can graft them in, and add the field to the form. Body unit number changes by series, VIN by engine. The sequence number will be added, thanks.

that's 1969 #1. 1967 Vin #5, 179, and 754 are in the database.
Numbers in the options? To the best of my knowledge the group codes are always letters after the numeric prefix.
I do have the decode information for the UPC and most of the option codes for all three years, but I am just a novice at database programming and mySQL query constructs. I'm hanging the "Help Wanted" sign...
Poll: should I add it? Would anyone type in up to 50 option codes? If so, I will add fields for new entries. You can add them as text in the "Notes" field, but decoding will not be possible through the database.
There is enough 1967 data to write and test a VIN/body tag verifier. A lot more 1968 and 1969 entries will be required to do the same, especially with two and three plants to categorize.

group 1 = WL, group 2 = W, group 3 (blank), group 4 = F, group 5 (blank) and I'm not sure what the 9 is...where is it located on the body tag? Just add it under "Notes". I moved the group 4 code to the group 4 box. It did accept everything you input.

Your Firebird was built the fourth week of May, 1967. VINs don't differentiate between coupes and convertibles, but the body unit number on the trim tag does. The last 1967 production date in the database so far is second week of July, #164322.

Okay I need some help. The invoice date on my billing history is 10/31/67. As far as I know 16960 convertibles were built in 68. If the vin# is 223678U116936 and these digits represent the sequence in which they were built then wouldnt mine have been followed by 24 more and thats it?
No. VINs encompass both coupes and convertibles in V-8 (1xxxxx series) and OHC 6 (6xxxxx series). What is the body unit number (LOR xxxxxx) on the body tag?
