I meet up with some of the "Northeren" HALFers in San Antonio for a nite at the drag strip. Even though I had one of the sloooowest cars there, I can't imagine anyone having more fun than me. It was a blast! They did bracket racing, so gave everyone a fighting chance. I managed to to finish 2nd in my bracket. we gotta do this again Kel
Yah, very exciting! Were you running 1/8's or 1/4's? Times? Was that TA clone fast? It's really fun beating 'Stangs and Gutlasses! The first time I ever ran I lined up with the pros by mistake. I was so cornfused that I tapped the brakes towards the end of the run and the pro did too. I won! He had to come over and shake my hand because it was the first time he lost that year. I mean, this guy had a pit crew with matching jackets... 69 Chevelle called 'The Hillbilly'. I got this stuff all on video. Just wait, you'll have linelock, Nitrous, drag radials.... The line lock is a barrel of laughs!
My best was 17.01, Tom D was in the low 14's all nite, and Joe D was in the 12's all nite.....after Friday, I'm thinkin my pretty much stock 350, 350TH, 3.08 gears may bring on some "improvments"........although they have served me well for 4+ years. Finishing 2nd in my bracket, was fun enough for me. ...oh, btw, the guy with the '69 TA didn't get to run, didn't have a cover for his overflow bottle ..there was a '64 GTO that ran 10/11's, and looked real nice to boot.
Looks like a great time!!!!!!!!!! Bracket racing sure levels the playing field. Maybe you caught the itch? Looking for another 10th of a second. Exellent way to send a friday nite. Hats off to you HALFers. Bill
