I have been tackeling the task of replacing all of my wiring instead of further patching the old stuff.
Does anybody know what the difference is in the Auto Engine Harness and the Manual Engine Harness? I was thinking maybe the auto comes with the kickdown wiring??? But then again its a seperate harness right? I even asked one of the guys at Ames and he replied idunno.

Oh and also. Would I be better off to order an engine harness for a Camaro being that i'm ::cough:: running a bbc motor in the car or is there a difference in the bulkhead connector or anywhere else that would cause me problems. As far as I can imagine the pontiac harness should work fine. But there is always the unexpected little things.

Having just completed this task, there should be NO reason to get one for a Slow-maro. (Chebbys still used a coil back then, too, right?) The main supplier of these is Factory Fit in New Jersy. They will sell you exactly the right harness and answer all your questions. As far as I know, the TH400 kickdown wiring should be on the engine harness, but since I have a manual trans I didn't get that particular set of wires with mine. If you order the harness from Factory fit, carefully look at all the contacts that are inserted into the connector housings very carefully. Some might need some final adjusting, as mine did.
I just went through this with a guy on the Classical Pontiac board on a '67 Bird. If you look, the published wiring diagrams DO NOT show the power or signal line for the Turbo 400 kickdown. After taking my old engine harnass apart, I found that they doubled up on some wires coming off the pins at the bulkhead connector for the wiper/washer to free a pin for the kickdown switch. The details are in CP Q&A topic #40053.
So, bottom line, the harnass IS different for a auto car versus a stick.
