I drove the car to the nearest filling station and back a week ago and then to a friend's shop yesterday to get some minor welding done. Here are some pictures until I figure out how to update my site (I'm at my storage limit).
What do you all think of this wheel:
I know it's not stock, but I really like the look of 17" wheels with 10" tires out back. I wish I could see it PhotoChopped onto my car (hint, hint).
I think I was a *little* aggressive with the windshield chop - but hey, if you're going to take the time to chop a windshield, at least make it noticeable, right?

Oh my gosh!!! Ash, you could be the next Chip Foose, Bobby Alloway, Xzibit or something. You might have to jazz your name up Azhe Tre' If only I had your inspirational concepts earlier I'd be going after the Ridler award.
I hate to be so presumptious as to offer artistic advice, but I think gold plating the bright work would finish it well. And some Daytons man, that car needs some Daytons or how about these: Bling Bling Wheels
I'm impressed. That's a really clever bit of engineering design. The images are raster scanned to the spokes of LED lamps. It's powered by the wheel rotation.
I found the patent for this online at the www.uspto.gov. Patent number 07001053.
The good news for John is they are available in 22's. You could upload the bird emblem or chevron image to your rims.
Glad you liked them! Hahaha No need to pay me for my services, really. Your appreciation is payment enough for my hours of long work creating those masterpieces - but if you really felt like doing something for me, you could send me those Rally II's after you're done with them! j/k!
(I actually like my rims...)
Good luck with the 17's! I'm sure they'll look sharp. Now you need to decide what tires to put on them! You should totally do something aggressive in a summer tire - though with rubber that soft, you'll probably smoke the rears bald in less than a month!

Yeah - but you can have an original one from before I used to sign them! Makes it more rare, or something. Of course, like any artist, it'll only be valuable once I'm dead - and I'm not sure how you can tell if a computer jpg file is an "original" or not! hahaha
Thanks for the invite - ditto on the MD side. Post some pics when you have the actual tires mounted - they'll look slightly different b/c you'll be able to see through the rims, unlike the pics I did up.

Scott: Didn't mean to ignore your suggestion. I looked long and hard at the billet ralleys but seeing them in person convinced me not to go with them. They're too flat in profile. If they'd started with a thicker piece of metal and strived for the deep features of the original rim, they'd look better. Plus, I think they should've done something to compensate for the absence of a trim ring. I think they could've made an integral trim ring since the thing is carved out of aluminum.
