Well project 68' is on hold again...but for a good cause.I just purchased my dad's 69' Olds convertible. GREAT driver (drove it 600+ miles home and it roars great),needs some interior work and a little body (passengerside rocker fix) and new paint and she will look very nice (looks decent though now).Wish i could have funded the car for dad but he gave me a cash deal on it so it could stay in the family.Has a 310 horse 350 4bbl with TH400 and tons of options. He threw in all his spare parts including a factory 385hp 455 and another TH400 he was going to drop in Not sure...i may have to part with one of the cars, not driving muscle in 9 years and driving 600 miles in one today, i got a rude awakening that todays gas prices really SUCK!!!! Last time i drove the bird is was 50 CND cents/liter i think At least the kids call it a Firebird LOL

Very nice! I have a soft spot in my heart for these cars because I rode to work for years in one just like it. My cousin had a way of waking me up with his driving, better than coffee.
Thanks for all the replies. She is not perfect by any means but a great runner and will tide me over till i get the bird finished.I learned to drive in my fathers 72' 442 convertible and when he sold it (and bought this car) i just about died! He did not even tell me.I think he understood what it meant to me.The oldsmobile cutlass/442 is the reason i got into classic cars. One day i had planned on getting one, just not so soon! Great cars, like our FGF's they are highly underated and do not get the respect they truly deserve.

Very cool David - I am sure your father is glad that you have it now. Nice to see you have a ride for the summer. It's a good opportunity to go cruising and maybe that'll take a bit of pressure off of yourself to finish off the Firebird. Have fun!

I feel real funny about the purchase though. Its hard getting into the car because of it,but it's almost like i'm feeling i'm losing my father or he is making peace with himself (knock on wood) I just never expected the day for him to sell the car.He loves to tinker with it,talk about it,etc... I almost feel sheepish about it. I think he is happy it is staying in the family though, even him only having it for 10 years, it is the passion he had for it.He doesn't say much but when it comes to cars boy does he ever like to rant.Well, back to the rocker repair on her

2 Years ago I helped my dad with restoring his 71. Cutlass Supreme, before i took on my '69 droptop. My dad has owned the car for 30 years and still loves it. It means alot to both of us. I put alot of long hard hours into that car, and we get compliments on it wherever we go.
Now when my firebird is done ill have to get a good picture of the fleet of muscle cars.
What another great classic that you don't see every day. I also have the pleasure of owning two classics, 69 convertible bird and 69 convertible vette. The wife keeps asking why do I need two, they take up so much room, we could do so much with the money, but nothing beats coming home from work and opening up the garage and seeing the two sitting there. I know it brings an ear to ear smile to my face. Years of drooling over everyone elses cars and now I have two. at least for a little while
Maybe a Hurst/Olds clone Terry Dad would like that!!! I'm gonna sell the Tick Toc Tach in it and send Dad the $$$$$ from the sale. They fetch some real good coin.

Make no apologies David, that's a beautiful classic, and worth even more as it was your Dad's car... "Priceless!"
Line up the cars and get a good series of pictures of them as they are now, and send your Dad a set showing it in it's happy new home with friends to play with. Then update the pictures as things progress...
Then you'll also have a history for both cars when it comes time to pass them onto your kids!
