I received a new Year One catalog in the mail and it came with a "labor day-internet special". They have a code number to order with for a 10% discount on MOST everything, only on the net (no phone) and only on labor day. I hope they don't mind me telling everyone.
I'll check to be sure and post the code tommorrow. I called them to make sure I wasn't out of line for blabbing. They said just to be sure the conditions (internet, one day, etc) are known by those that care to use it. Talk to you tommorrow.
G' mornin' all Back when I was gathering parts for mine, it was obvious that there was no single supplier of quality parts that was least expensive across the board. The pictures & information in their catalog is great. Anyhoo the sale code to use at www.yearone.com is "LD06". I take the 0 as a zero, as in Labor Day '06. Catchy ain't it. I think I'll just take that day off.
Thanks Greg! Sometimes Classic Ind shipping is so high that I buy from Year 1. They can sometimes beat the total price. Classic is wacko when they figure some shipping amounts. I have paid $25 shipping on an item weighing 2 pounds just because of the item price. I asked Classic about it and they adjust shipping cost according to price. That's crazy! I can see jacking up the shipping for oversize or overweight put to hammer you because it's expensive????
While we're on the subject of shipping charges...what about Summit? Holy crap their shipping and "handling" fees are outa wack. I love their selection, availabilty, and website navigation, but it's the only place you can order a $10 part and end up paying $30!
I have a LOOONG way to go on my build and lots of parts to order. I have been very impressed with the smaller companies like Butler perf (and their prices AND service really beat up Summit). I also like Ames for the other stuff, but then again, they are only 3 hours from me so all shipping is next day at no extra charge.
I dunno about that. I sometimes buy up to about $5K worth of stuff from Summit and end up paying $5008.95. They don't charge for shipping ... unless its oversized stuff. But their handling fee is always $8.95, regardless of what and how much I buy
