I sent out a message to some of the local FGF owners I've met in the area, and would like to hear from more!
I'd be willing to coordinate/broadcast Macomb and Oakland County events including a "club" group at the Carnival of Cars, Woodward Dream Cruise and the Cruizin' Car Show, Utica Car Show and other shows and cruises that happen in the area. Or just get together once or twice and cruise the streets in a show of FGF force...
Anyone with an FGF or an interest in them is welcome, regardless of where you live. Just PM me with an email address if you're interested! You do NOT have to have a show quality car to have fun at these events.

Carnival of Cars http://carnivalofcars.com June 12, 2005 Shelby Township, MI $15 early registration. Car show and swap meet, trophies, club groups. If we can get at least 3 cars together we can have our own "club" parking area if we register under a club name.
Oakland Press Cruizin' Car Show during the Dream Cruise, Friday and Saturday, Oakland Press Parking Lot, Pontiac $35 both days, come and go as you please, 1975 or older car. We can also get a "club" parking area.
Utica Car Show, Utica Michigan...a twist on the car show theme. Small town closes its downtown main street, and classic cars and trucks and rods park along both sides. Walk around and view the cars, meet a lot of friendly people. Parking together means arriving early and waiting for the street to close.
There are also cruises and shows in Mt. Clemens, and the big Firebird gathering at Cabela's in Dundee, and scores of other events. These are just a few that I enjoy. Suggestions are welcome!
No dues, no mandatory meetings, the idea is to have fun and share resources. I have a pretty good FGF library to share.

Vikki, first of all, I applaude you for orginizing a local area group. If you pull it off, it will very rewarding. For those of you who get involved with Vikki and that group, you are fortunate to have her as your "leader". As she stated, she is a wealth of knowledge. Vikki also brings out a great point, you DO NOT have to have a SHOW CAR to participate in these gatherings. If you can drive it there, then GO! No one is going to "critique" you about your car, because we have all been there ourselves, and you will get plenty of pointers on how to get your car to where you want it to be. Good luck to you Vikki and the rest of you "Yankee's" , we(HALF), have set the bar high, so get those 'birds together and have some fun.
Vikki, i'm about 3 1/2 hrs from southern Michigan and would be interested in coming out here or there.Woodward is almost definite (pending car completion ) I've sent you a PM with particulars.

August 5th and 6th...local shows...SEVEN 1969 Firebird convertibles, and two 1968s (a coupe and a convertible), a 72 coupe, and an 81 Trans Am. We parked all but two of them together in a flock, old friends and new acquaintances alike.
My 'bird took its first award, which I feel was undeserved given the quality of cars on display. I am, however, proud to report that our "flock" of Firebirds parked together took three trophies of twenty four given, and over 150 cars judged!

If I remember correctly, Jackson has a drive in show downtown one Saturday a month which would be a good spot for the general area. Little for the Detroit crowd. I have been away for awhile but it was fun when I lived there.
My employer gives birthdays off, I might ask for a substitute date with better weather.
My boss is a car nut too... '70 Hemi 'Cuda, '70 Cuda convertible, '69 Roadrunner 440-6 pack. So when I asked for time off to pick up a car it was no big deal.

Welcome, you're a few miles out but we have a group of 10 or so FGFs in the Shelby/Utica area that get together when we can. Our organizer moved last year, so we're a bit slow getting things together this year, but we do the Utica car show in downtown Utica and usually gather for the Dream Cruise.
