Anyone know what the switch/sensor is on the side of my 68's st300 2 speed. I am about to swap in a th350 and noticed a 2 spade circular plug on the side. Never was hooked up and spade is broke off and it leaks bad.
I am thinking it can be only 1 of 3 possibilities:
Back-up light switch Neutral safety switch Electric kickdown (I know Turbo 400's have these)
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Neutral safety is in shifter, and backup too. They both work. (nothing is hooked up to the tranny switch). I didn't think a 2 speed would have a kickdown. Someone told me once it may have been a switch to shut off the A/C if the tranny got too hot.
Oh well, not a big deal as it will soon be swapped, but it was bugging me!
I have a 350 Automatic I recently bought. When checking the Trans I noticed what apperas to be a switch or some sort of cable connection which has been cut. At first I thought it might be the odometer cable, but that works. Couldn't find anything in the manual.
Guy I got the car from said the kick-down cable needed to be replaced. Could this be it?
350 engine or trans? Mine stock was a ST300 2spd auto with (what I found out here) is an electric kickdown switch. I am putting in a TH350 trans and it uses a cable kickdown. Got universal carb bracket at autoparts store and seen cables on eBay.
Its probably like the one I'm about to take out ST300 2 speed auto. Mine had a 2 spade plug on the side, that I've been told on here was a electric kickdown. Mine was never hooked up when I got the car and just found out it was the kickdown switch a few days ago. So maybe others can tell you how and where to hook it up. Karl
