I have a 67 bird had a 326 so it also had a flat hood I got a 400 hood from a friends 69 I remembered reading that the latches were different somehow so i also took his latch temporarily But I got it home and his 69 hood latched just fine with my 67 latch i inspected the 2 latches a little and i think i see the differences but dont see how that would make it not work
put a 67 flat hood on my 68 vert, and had to crawl under and dissasemble to get the hood back open. i dont use a latch now at all - i went gto style with the two forward steel pins.
8-point and I compared hoods at the Firebird show. There's a subtle difference between the 67's and 68/69 that you can see when you directly compare. 68/69's have more of an angle to the hood latch hole.
Bastereo, get the correct latch....talk to Terry backyardparts@bellsouth.net or FirebirdBill earlybrds@aol.com , you may get in trouble with the 67 latch and it wont open! just my hunch, but have heard about this before...
John, I was answering the last question asked before I answered. The one about the Camaro latch. The Camaro hoods are very much different and so are the latches.
