I recently got a 350 from a 69 Tempest. Will a distributor from a 79 Firebird 301 fit?

I think you picked the only Pontiac v-8 that doesn't fit. I would compare the bottom portion, that goes down into the engine, and if it's the same, it will work.

Actually, the distributor may be the only part from a 301 that will fit other engines! I picked one up at a "u-pull". All of the later HEI's will have too much vacuum advance and very little mechanical.
To confirm, I looked at an add for an Accel HEI Dist:
