I moved house last weekend, only 5 miles down the road but apparently too far for my motor. A week before I was driving it around without any problems. So what does the little b!$*/@d do on the day i move house and as I am driving it to its new home...its starts making horrible clanking noises and the brakes fail!!! As if moving home is not stressful enough; I spent 2 hours on the side of the road waiting for the flatbed arrive....
Anyway, its in the dog house at the moment, we aren't speaking.
I know owning a classic is hard work but i'm starting to think my bird has got it in for me! Anyone else experienced the wrath of the FGF?

Oh man! Cars have a sole. If they like you, they come back after you sell them. They act up when they think you are getting rid of them. Once it(he/she) knows that you were just moving it will settle down. LOL
My bird had a real bad attitude when we first began our affair. She would mess with me at all the wrong moments. Embarrass me in public, yell at me in the garage while the neighbors were out in their yards, etc. I guess she thought I'd leave her and wasn't in for the long haul.
After a few years of treating her like a lady, she's got a better attitude and isn't so paranoid anymore.
But I know she still can turn on me if not taken care of..............

Oh Yah! The 'Birds really like to show off when raced against Buicks. Try out the Cutlases too. I beat 4(Cutlases) in a row at the track! It took a Vette to cut me down to size. The puke dialed in a 15 flat and dogged me!

I'm not sure I feel like treating her like a lady at the moment, think I might just threaten her with a blowtorch..

Rossetti, she's probably a tramp, but I treat her like a lady.
All I know is that when I don't take care of her and pay attention to detail, she starts acting up! These cars were meant to be driven, thats for sure. The more I drive her the better she acts.
However, Dan, the blow-torch treatment could have positive results as well.

Mine took a while to warm up to. She blew a head gasket a week after I bought her. Then she started flooding on occasion and stalling at idle. Now she's comfortable in my garage.
She likes to be spanked on a regular basis! She definitely enjoys the abuse.
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
I have been in 2 versions of my present one since 77. As far as automobiles go, its service to me has been reliable enough to act as a daily driver for a number of decades. Let it sit for 6 years, dump some 5 gallons of gas in the tank to freshen up whatever dregs in the tank, hit the key, let the electric fuel pump fill the bow, and VROOM--whithout cranking.
Greg points out something interesting: The cars seem to enjoy being rung out on a regular basis, and I'm sure that it explains the reliable service. In fact, I just got in from wringing it out. (The Northstar engine has taken its share of bad raps. But the problems seem directly related to ol geezers never operating the engine above 1.1k. It's a hypo engine, and the owners who operte it as a hypo engine don't blow up engines like the old biddies do. Although not as brutal as with the bird, I ring out the sts on a regular basis, and it's a happy camper.)
It's been my experience that pretty much any mechanical piece of equipment, firebirds included, work better and are more reliable if they are used regularly. Sitting around idle just leads to decay. My philosophy is that these cars were made to be driven, so I drive mine as much as I can.

I have to agree! I drive the coupe almost every day, and the convertible to shows and on holidays. The convertible also comes out when I need to scratch that itch to hear a big V8.
