Hello, I have a 1967 firebird 326 that I purchased from the original owner. The original owner was an elderly lady that I no longer have contact with. The car has a black/chrome horizontal dent guard molding that runs on both sides of the car in between the wheel well openings. I am going to restore the car and wanted to know if these dent guard moldings were a factory option or an add on after the car was purchased? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, jnieland
jnieland, this is an aftermarket item. The stock trim was the chrome/stainless wheel well trim, and the door edge gaurds also in stainless... There is some of the trim that would go along the body line for all 3 panels on the market that looks period correct if you really want to add this... but from what I've heard, there typically was no trim as you mentioned from the factory. Not to say it couldn't have been done, just highly unlikely...in stock form.
There were the H.O. or Rally stripes in a vinyl material is about all...
