Alright, I love the 50's-60's and Beach Boys music too but I think I am ready for something different. I wanna know what your top 10 classic rock songs you would play at your show. Here's mine in no particular order.....
1) Skynard - Free Bird 2) Bad Company - Good Lovin Gone Bad 3) Bob Seger - Ramblin' Gamblin' Man 4) The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again 5) Styx - Blue Collar Man 6) KISS - Rock-n-Roll All Night 7) Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do 8) Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy 9) MeatLoaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light 10) AC/DC - Hells Bells
1) Lowell George (Little Feat) - 20 Million Things 2) Little Feat - Day At The Dog Races 3) Grateful Dead - Touch Of Grey 4) Donald Fagen - New Frontier 5) Dire Straits - The Bug 6) Joe Walsh - Meadows 7) James Gang - Cruisin' Down The Highway 8) John Hiatt - Slow Turning 9) King Crimson - Discipline 10) The Doors - The Soft Parade
I beleive only two of these tunes make it to the top forty air play. Can you pick'em out?
what about AC/DC's highway to hell? Aerosmith's sweet emotion? Ted Nugent's strangle hold?those atre some good 70's cruis'n tunes.Thens theres always those times when you want to pop in some lamb of god, slayer, or machine head(METAL) when you've really had a bad day and just want to paint the road with your Hoosier Quick time's
Definately some Deep Purple tunes Vik....and all the others are good, as Jim say's put em on shuffle and add a few Commander Cody tunes in (say like Hot Rod Lincoln)
Well if we're taking car tunes...how about I can't drive 55 and Trans Am, Highway Star(DP), HR Lincoln is a good one, Cruisin In My Mercury(Norton Buffalo), Crown Victory Custom 51(Rockabilly), Great Balls Of Fire(the Killer, just because it's such a gret song), Josephine(Chuck Berry)...can't think of any more right off the top.
One out of two. 3 and 4. The James Gang put out that tune on the Miami LP in '74. By that time Joe Walsh was on his own with So What which put out Turn To Stone.
Donald Fagen's New Frontier from The Nightfly got minimal airplay here in cow town. I'm sure it was from the lack of the DJ's to link him with Steele Dan.
Needless to say, Touch Of Grey was the Grateful Dead's bigest hit.

Don't forget Beep Beep. The little Nash Rambler stuck in 2nd gear at 120 keeping with the Cadillac.
Highway to Hell by AC/DC Enter Sandman by Meallica (More Power) Pretty Woman by Van Halen Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses Radar Love by Golden Earring Hair of the Dog by Nazareth Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpions Rock On by Def Leppard
We do like the other music chosen, too.
Classic birds all the way! Like Rock and Roll, they're here to stay!
As for tunes to listen to while "cruising" in the Bird, I will go wayyyyyyyyy out on the limb here and tell you all that for me, there is nothing like listening to old school country music. Like I said, going way out on the limb as I know I am in the minority when it comes to music. However, nothing like listening to a Merle Haggard CD and driving the Bird. To me, one is just as good as the other! However, as fopr music at a cruise night, definately 50's rock for me. I am 38 but I absolutely love 50's rock...
Oh no. You are not alone here. I like to mix in some classic country. Johnny Cash is king. Hank Junior and Willie if I'm tuned up. If I'm listening to Merle I best not be driving.
1. Born to be Wild – Steppenwolf 2. All Day and all of the Night– Kinks 3. Louie, Louie – Kingsmen 4. Gloria – Shadows of Knight 5. Inna Godda Davida – Iron Butterfly 6. Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dlyan 7. Shut Down - Beach Boys 8. I get Around – Beach Boys 9. Light My Fire – Doors 10. Satisfaction – Rolling Stones
One thing I'd like to see is the shows turn the volumn down. Some I go to are so loud that it's unbearable, then the MC comes over and blast you with his announcements that he sounds angry all the time. There are two or three here like that, another one I go to is nice and low key. Most of us curisers are 40+ years old, been there done that with the loud music, don't want it anymore, rather be able to talk and just have backgorund music.
I'd also suggest more speakers spread around and low instead of all in one spot turned up loud, then you can go lower volumn without people missing the drawings and such.
But I'm seeing some nice selections made by everyone, like to hit a few of those shows.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
