i got my heads back for my 350, #47's they where original but serviceable.. well i was hoping it would only be 500-600 to get em done with new valves and hardened seats....well i went up there today and the bill was 774$....they are very nice thou brand new i guess, everything has been replaced with new stuff except the casting....he put in 2.02 1.66 valves and cleaned the pockets up a bit they are stainless valves...you guys think that is about right on the price? i hope they put out better than stock....
Don't look back. Bolt them on and enjoy them. It doesn't matter now if you paid too little or too much. You would have paid more if you bought heads and had them machined.
That's actually a very decent price since you did none of the work yourself and you have all new hardware. (Not intended as a slight or insult. Shop rates for labor are higher than you might think.)
The premise, though, is that you got high quality hardware while you were at it.
i guess so...they are perfect now, i bet you couldn't tell em from a new set so i'm happy i just wish it would of been only 5-600. i guess it was the guides that did me in... he did say my motor will work fine with nitrous... it's overbuilt if anything.... i think i have 4000 in it so far...now i just have to get the lettuce and tomatoes and i will be done...(oil pump fuel pump, push rods and a gasket set... but atleast it's the numbers matching motor and should be perfect for 100k(cept for the timing chain i heard pontiacs are only good for 40k)
I agree. Don't look back, and move on with those new heads. What good could come from us all speculating on the price now that the job is done? Keep positive and keep going.
