Started to do a little research and now beliving engine is not original to my car. Duz anyone know what would be the correct block code and heads #'s for an early production (dec. 1968) 1969 firebird 350 HO with manual tras? Engine in car has block code of WN sorry couldn't get cast # or date code without removing distributor or intake as it is to hard to look behind engine. Heads are cast #48 with date code of J308. Any help on what this engine maybe? Also sounds like I atleast may have a nice set of heads here anyways as I see these being advetised as ram air heads? ANy help is appreciated. Stephen

thanks for the insite guys. How exactly do you figure out if it is a # matching engine? Should vin stamped on front of engine by engine code match vin of car on the dash? I was doing some research on yearones website earlier and they didn't show a WN block till 73 is why I was asking. But the PHS documents I got shows WN as late production engine with 45 degree valve seat angle and WK for early with 30 degree valve seat angle. My PHS shows a shipping date of 12/04/68 but would guess was built just prior to that date.

VIN down by timing cover should read 29U1xxxxx if Lordstown or 29N1xxxxx if Norwood or 29L1xxxxx if Van Nuys. This same number should appear on the cowl, under the passenger side wiper arm (viewable through the cowl vent).

What would be correct cast # for intake on the 350 HO? I am sure I would have a hard time finding correct date code but would atleast like correct cast #. If anyone has one I have a edelbrock performer rpm on car now to trade, has around 150 miles on it been sitting on engine for about 2 years now as car been sitting in garage Engine has been run once every month or so to keep battery up.
