It says you can on the can but I was just wondering how it would turn out. The guy who had the firebird before me coacted just about the entire engine bay in Por 15. I want the stock look (satin) and am just wondering if I can paint over it. Thanks,
The official story is you can paint over it if you do it before it totally cures. So apply the POR-15, let it dry for a few hours (4-8 hours?) until just barely sticky, then coat it with something else. If you need to paint POR-15 later, they sell an etching primer for that. I've primered and painted over sticky POR-15, and also bondo'd. Seemed to work well. I never tried to paint over old POR-15. Maybe someone else has and can say if it works?
Thanks Jim and Bob. Since the Por 15 has already long since cured I'll try the scuffing and painting. If that doesn't work I may have to recoat it all and try the tacky meathod. Thanks again.
The have a top coat that you paint over the POR15 paint. I am looking at it to cover POR15 on my roof and then adhere the new vinyl top. Made by the same company that makes the POR15 paint.
