I have rebuilt my 326 out of my 67 Bird, I changed the distributor to an HEI, my Chiltons book evidently does not have the correct firing order for my engine, can someone that has done this plese send me a sketch one the order for the spark plungs fireing order.

The firing order is: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

#1 is the front drivers side cylinder, the dirstibutor rotates COUNTER CLOCKWISE when you look down on it. Make sure that when the timing marks are lined up that you DEFINITELY have #1 in the firing position. (Usually the driver's side valve cover has to come off to verify this, although there are a couple other ways to check.)

O.K. the driver's side is the odd side 1,3,5,7 starting frt. to rear the pass is the even side 2,4,6,8, again starting frt. to rear with the dist. cap off bring the #1 piston up to top of the cylinder, pull the plug out and cover the hole w/either your finger,or put a rag in the hole you'll know when the piston get's close the timing mark should be at around 0 on the balancer and wherever the rotor is pointing that's #1 put your cap on and wire the cap in counterclockwise order 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 then you should be in business.

Then of course you'll have to reset the timing H.E.I. will advance your timing about 3 degree's
