Classic seems to have the best prices on a few of the things that I need. I have never dealt with them. Are their products decent? Has anyone had any issues with them?
I'm happy with parts I have bought from them, but I guess backorders are fairly common on some parts. This means waiting for an undetermined time for your part.I waited about 3 months on a voltage regulator, some people have waited longer on stuff. The parts they have in stock are shipped fast. My 2 cents.
I ordered from them for the first time on Jan 15th (the last day of their holiday sale). I ordered 7 items, the largest being 2 parking lens housings, so the entire package wasn't that big.
The courier delivered the box to my door on Tuesday: 8 days. I think that's really good for what was coming from California to the Toronto area.
And I'm really impressed with the quality too. I ordered some astro vent balls and they look great!
My only complaint concerns the shipping costs: $70.00 on a $250.00 order. But if you don't pay, you don't get!
Hope this helps...

Did you check out National Parts Depot? Thinking you may close the gap on prices by saving on shipping, that is if they have what you're looking for. They have warehouse in Michigan.

CI is always my 2nd choice after Ames. Ames is more upfront in both their catalog and on the phone about how good a part is or is not. And Ames will not sell you a Camaro only part that some vendor told them fit Firebirds. And I get a little upset when CI sends you a 20% off postcard and then you find that everything in your order is an exception to the sale.
Other than that, I have always been happy with the stuff I have gotten from CI.

Those sounds like good parts to order from CI. They like to hammer you on shipping but since those are not expensive parts the shipping should be under $20. They regulate shipping charges by the total bill. I always look at eBay first because sometimes the parts will be there cheeper with less shipping charges a possibility.
CI has pretty good stuff, but mostly Camaro things...make sure your application is where the part is a Camaro/Firebird part, Firebird specific parts go to Ames, PY, NPD, Chicago Muscle car, the Paddock..or for used parts, FirebirdBill or Terry Ritter, and Franks used Pontiac parts
I can vouch for NPD in Canton. I got some doubles of parts I wanted for Christmas, took em back with no issues. Swapped em out for what I really needed.
So my order came in from Classic, and I received a lockset from a '68 and not a '69 (my fault). So I sent the wrong set back today for $3 at the post office. Classic told me the shipping to send the new set back to me is $12. Weird eh? The '69 locks must be allot heavier!!!
I got an order in yesterday that has me now questioning good ol' CI. It's only the 2nd order I've placed with them.
I ordered 3 cans of OER aqua/black trunk spatter at $12.95/can. There was another thread where I was asking what product(s) could be used to replicate the original '68 treatment. Banshee and Claus both came back saying Dupli-Color's product would work. But I ended up ordering the OER brand from CI.
I got the shipment yesterday. The invoice says I ordered the OER brand product. But what I got were Dupli-Color cans with the OER product/bar code printed on an adhesive label stuck on each can.
So I phoned a guy named Phil in CI's customer service dept. He says Dupli-Color supplies them with the OER product; that the OER product is just Dupli-Color re-branded. So I say that I'm of the impression (from previous posts here but didn't divulge that) that one can get this Dupli-Color product from other sources and cheaper than what CI charges. So, if I knew I was to be getting Dupli-Color, then I would have ordered that instead and probably done so locally. Phil said this particular product is not available through other vendors; only through CI (??)
BUT...Phil JUST NOW called back to say he credited my card $30.51 to make up for the confusion.
So, I'll get the same result with the Dupli-Color and ended up getting some coin back in my pocket. But I'll be left wondering what other surprises CI will have in store for me next time.

Mark, you got lucky on them giving you that much credit. After keeping on them & several promised delivery dates gone by I got my voltage regulator & a $2 & something cent credit. Better than nothing though.
After thousands of dollars spent and tons of returns, CI is way down on my list. My first preference is Ames followed closely by Rick's. It really depends on the part and availability after that. You would be surprised how close Ames comes in price to CI, even during one of their 20% sales.
After restoring our 68 Camaro and spending thousands w/ CI, I would HIGHLY recommend AMES over CI any day!!!!! Not too mention their tech support is EXCELLENT. Although now that I see we have some vendors on this site, I will attempt to use these folks first in the future...
