My original bow is pretty rusty. I'm sure with some work it could be usable. But time is money, so wondering if you could comment on the repros out there from Classic Ind. and Ames.
I fixed the one on my 67. Cleaned the rust off sprayed it with Eastwoods Oxisolv to finish off any rust left. I did not weld the small holes with my mig I didn't want the heat on the bow(just my oppion).I used Marglass Fiberglass filler and glassed in small pieces of metal where the small holes were. Marglass is water proof. Sanded, primered and painted without removing the header bow. Looked great and I think it was a very good fix. But I can't tell you anything about the repro's don't know anyone who used one. Hope this helps.
SC, I would work with the one you have. I've also heard that the repro's are questionable as far as fitment. There is a metalic filler on the market, much like bondo as far as filler goes, but it's metalic, and when set, is as hard as nails, and has metal in it. So you'll have to work with small amounts and work fast and smooth)
