I have a 67 Coupe that is Mariner Turq. on the exterior. The interior color is similar but differant. I want (need) to paint the interior but don't know where to find out what the interior metal surface (dash, doors, kick panel area, rear window trim, etc) paint color was originaly. Can anyone help me out?
You can either take something to the paint store with the color and they will match it. Or, you could get the info off your trim tag on the firewall and plug it into the trim tag analyzer on this site. That would give you the name of your interior color. The paint store would be able to match that.
color match is the best, find something that is clean and not faded. the cost is about 50 to 75 bucks and takes about a week to match nicley; although, the paint will change color(slightly) from plastic to metal. get a the best paint you can. synthetic is what I used. ask for plastic/metal and vinal promotion. get at least 2 qts of paint. my interior takes that much. also save the mix code off the can; because they don't keep records. that saved my a--. the cost for me was 125 plus the match. beleave me its worth every penny. the paint sticks to plastic and it looks close to as original as i can get. no problems so far. good luck!!
The Parts Book has paint charts for both the interior and exterior which will provide the paint codes. Once you find your trim code you can locate the interior codes. I can send the higher res scan if you wish.
Thanks to all of you for your assistance. The paint chart explains the reason for the differance in appearance from the exterior to the interior. Mariner Turquoise in and out but the interior appears to have 2 differant degrees of gloss. One at 60 and the upper instument cluster at 0. Thanks again.
FYI: The 60% and 0% gloss on the '67 chart is interesting. The '68 chart shows the gloss levels at 30% and 0%. I wonder if GM actually dialed down the interior gloss levels with the big '68 goverment regulation changes that year. Anyone notice the lower interior parts on the '67s being higher gloss than the '68s?
The anti-glare regulations came into effect. Polished mirror backs were replaced with brushed; chrome pillar trims with vinyl. That was also the beginning of the end for chrome bumpers.

I tried the paint codes and ppg didn't have the reference for the new types of paint. those paint codes are for laquer and they don't sell laquer anymore. I had to use the glove box door for my 68.
I order lacquer spray cans for some small jobs (Rally II Charcoal, Burgundy upper dash, Solar red touchup) from http://towerpaint.com/. They can mix up the lacquer and send it to you from Wisconsin for about $20 per can. All were using the PPG numbers. I got the Rally II charcoal as recent as week before last.
