well it is simple when you step on the brakes the front poser lights come on and the dash lights come on? I've checked all the grounds and they seem to be good,I believe it may be a bad headlight switch? anybody else ever had this problem? Thanks
Incorrect wiring of the tailights (wires on the wrong terminals) and ground issues (poor ground to the tailight housing and/or housing to chassis) can cause some of the most funkey electrical issues you can imagine.
Ok this may sound crazy..but the same thing happend to me...and to fix it I had to pull out the flasher switch on the column. My flasher was bad and with that switch pushed in I guess by my knee it made me light on dash and running light come on when brake is pushed.....It's worth a try...Tim
If above doesn't work my theory is that you are drawing a ground for your taillight brake lights back through your running(poser) lights and dash lights. Your taillights may need a better ground. I would take a wire and add a temporary ground to your taillight housings to see if the problem changes.
osa6637, what year 'bird do you own? I have to agree with Jim about the tail lamp ground. If you car is a '69, you may have lost a ground to the dash bezel. Lots of strange things go on, and off if switches and the instruments aren't grounded properly.
Dave just the dash lights (not the gen light or the brake light) and the lights that light up the heater controls to. Thanks for your replies guys i will look into the flasher thing and the grounds in the tail light housings as well, Though the emergency flashers and turn signals work fine. Oh it's a 69. Thanks
