o k, so i have installed the new re-chromed shifter and when i tighten the linkage bracket on the side of the trans and it started to leak out some trans fluid. i dont think i over tightened it, but i did hear a click sound out the side by the gear selector . started the car to go for a test drive and all i got is drive only. redid the shifter linkage and now NO reverse or drive. undid linkage and tried all gears with no results checked fluid.. not low and smell ok. trans ran ok before the shifter change out
can the trans get jacked-up buy over tighten the nut where the linkage hooks up
Possible you bumped the selector out of neutral when you changed over. I do not remember but if you go all the way back with the lever and are in first (forward) gear, go 3 clicks up and you are in neutral. Ensure you have the shifter mounted in neutral.

thanks tom i tried that, and i also tried starting it with the neutral switch by-passed in every position (p thru 1st). still no movement. trans was working fine until i conected the l-shaped bracket to the side of the trans.
any other ideal? or i guss this might be the time to consider that 200r 4-speed conversion that i read about. thsnks - jerry
