I've been to car shows and have seen a couple 68's and 69's that would have a sign by them saying 1 of 285 (just picked a #) made with this color and options. How do you find this out? I know they made around 3600 67 400 convertibles but how do you narrow this down more? I have registered my 67 with PHS and received my package with alot of great info. is this something they can help with? Thanks for any help.
Personally, the practice you mention (1 of X) drives me crazy...
...unless we are talking about a '69 T/A, a Boss 429 Mustang, a Hemi 'Cuda or LS-5 Chevelle convertable or some other ultra rare muscle car.
Just about any car over about 10 years old can be made into a (1 of a few) if you take into account it's unique combination of options. It just gives people something to talk about at cars shows.

Totally agree, when it comes to a bird....I usually say mine is one of about 11,000 ( 69 converts.) When I had my 1954 Volvo tp21 w/ chassi number #127.....it was different , it was no. 127 of 724 totally made over the period 1953-1957, then it makes it kinda rare.. But like Salmon said , you can prob. get a fairly low number 1 of xxx , if you figure the color combo. w coupe or conv. w stick or autom. and console no console , w or w/o clock etc...lol I would`nt worry too much about those numbers , just use the coupe or conv, no`s w type engine ,350,400 etc... and when you go to a car museum and see 1 of 3 made...thats a different story... Besides, it really comes down to being "1 of 1." That's how I count mine. I hope one day to have identical 69 Convertibles, in which case I can say 1 of 2, but, until then ...
Thanks Salmon38, Bjorn, Quenton your right! Our birds are one of one because of our personal taste and the things we do to them that makes them one of a kind. That is what makes this hobby or the love of the auto great! Thanks for giving me a better view of what I have in my bird. ONE OF ONE.
