I agree 100 percent, make that 1000 percent on Ebay. I've been on the look out for a 68 coupe to work into a road racer, all I really need is a shell but preferably one with decent floors, quarters and doors with a front frame. Not quite ready to buy yet but on the look out none the less. So far I've run across a few candidates but the prices are crazy, up to and over 2 grand depending on the car. We're talking junk here. Then I'd have to replace either the floor, a quarter or two and who knows what else. Some of these I've seen are worth more as scrap they're in such bad shape. Should be in the hundreds, not thousands. I can buy a complete base driver for the same or just a little more and part it out. But I don't really want to cut up a good car, but I will if I have to.
My Rant? W-T-H is with the high junker prices? Watching to much BJ? It'd take 20+ grand to redo some of these cars that would be worth maybe 10-15K tops as they're base OHC,s 326's and 350 low value cars that need everything. It's not like I'm looking for a restorable matching number 400 or vert. Geez!!!
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
It's surprising to me what sells for crazy prices on e-bay. Personally, I think people have friends who bid items up or use different aliases. Then again, I'm naturally suspicious of people
I think prices are high all over the place -- I just paid $16 to Ames for the stupid little clip that holds the front marker light on!
EVERY TOM,DICK AND HARRY WANTS TO BECOME THE NEXT YEAR ONE.THEY SPEND 5 TIMES WHAT THE CAR IS WORTH THAN REALIZE THEY MADE A MISTAKE.I PUT A STRIPPED SHELL FROM A 67 VERT ON EBAY AND IT BROUGHT 1,500.00.

What's happening is part of the evolving market. In one breath, I hear folks complain that the fgf doesn't get its recognition on the market. And out of the same pair of lungs, I hear people complain about things being overpriced. Which one do you want? A worthless pos or a valuebal collectable? Cannot have both.
It's has nothing to do with fools and money. That's a phrase that was used with people who were in the game back when it wasn't cool and bought old pos cars for $500. Heck! You could get a turn key, solid low mileage car for $700, so why pay all that money on something you have to do lots of work on and end up spending however much money on parts?
This is supply and demand. Myself, I'm estatic to see it happening, and I would love to see the prices continue to go through the roof.
there's still deals out there, just today i received a set of 4 headlight bezels for my 69.ad said driver quality with one missing a piece of chrome.opened the box today and there was hardly any pits, very shiny and the one with the missing chrome was just a spot of paint ,picked right off good chrome underneith.on a scale of 1-10 7-8 not bad for 61 bucks.
My HO will look just fine with finely chosen repro pieces. 99% of the public can't tell the difference. You just have to make sure the repro pieces are dimensionally correct, lense colors (hues) are correct, and the paint inlays on emblems are correct.
If you do not own a RA, RAI, II, III or IV car, the repop parts, if chosen smartly will do just fine.
And unless my car is going to be judged, I will not spend $1500 on a set of NOS door weatherstrip or $400 on a latex trunk weatherstrip.
Anyones Firebird will look great if you pay attention to the details.

Ah! So you're the one who out bided me. To bad I couldn't have been at a PC at the end of the auction. Nice buy eah
There are some GREAT deals on parts you can't get anywhere else. I bought the original cruise control carb bracket for my 69 for about $25. Cliff Ruggles had never even seen one. Ultra rare and cheap!
I do still have my Farrah Fawcett poster...not giving that up.
4dabird, You wouldm't believe all the cheap, bad or wrong crap I've bought over the years, but....... its all for sale now!
Who will start the bidding on the beercan-thin aluminum headers? Each header weighs less than 2 pounds, thereby lowering your overall car weight! These are very hard to find!
