Does anyone know where to get the triangle shaped blowout clip that's in the upper forward corner under the drip rail? This keeps the driver door window from being sucked out at highway speeds.
It's a black plastic triangular piece that is riveted to the chrome. I've struck out twice trying to order this.
Until I get this fixed, I can't drive over 140 without the window being sucked out.
How are you going to re-attach it. I think the original one was rivited on. One of mine came off and I couldn't see any way put it back on. Been off for years. Good thing I kept it under 140 I guess.
Thanks for the replies. Just kidding about the 140. But, everytime I shut the door, I have to roll the window down and back up to re-seat it in the rubber seal.
you're right firebob, the original was riveted on. I lost the original, or maybe tossed it in the garbage. If I could find that little gem, at this point i'd try to re-use it.
You could probably drill out or cut off the rivets and screw it back on to the chrome piece. maybe use some epoxy in the screw holes.
NAPA had some different styles, but not one that would work.
I can't really see what this piece does. Like I said mine has been off for years and I don't notice any difference. I think there is an adjustable stop for how far the window rolls up. I know there is one on the quarters. If you screwed it in slightly so the window didn't roll up as far or maybe adjust the channel so the window leans more toward the inside of the car you wouldn't have to mess with it everytime. Just a thought.
That's pretty interesting. Maybe I really don't need it. What actually knocked mine loose was the window hitting it every time the door was shut, so obviously my window is too high, and I was planning on adjusting it prior to installing the new clip so I didn't knock the new one off too. Maybe adjusting the window will be good enough!
BTW, that's a cool pic of your car in action in front of the Porsche. It has a nice stance.
Thanks. I like the way she sits too. It's funny but everybody seems to have their own idea about ride height and what looks best. I like em in the dirt. All I need now is better tires.
