I'm toying with the idea of retuning my 'bird to its original configuration of a 4-speed on the floor. I have a console but it is in pretty poor shape and I was considering just pulling it out leaving me with just the shifter sticking out of the floor. Problem is that I don't know what Pontiac did originally. Did Firebirds come with a boot or something else? Or were all 4-speeds with consoles?
That picture I posted above is from Rodericks 'time capsule'. Do you remember the story? Wrecked at 10,000 miles and then stored in a shed forever. I think that the boot on Roderick's is pulled up for whatever reason. Maybe it happened in the roll-over. I bet if you pushed it down it would look the same.
