Toward the back of the car. The right tools help, and always use 1/2" drive whenever possible: facing the back of the car, push against the seat with one foot. With the other foot kick it with a pushing kick. Save the grunting and bullwork for folks who don't have any other tools to work with.
I like to take a big rubber hammer and put the handle end up against the thick wire structure next to the loop that goes in the latch. Then I smack the hammer head with my hand and it comes unhooked. That way you don't damage upholstery by punching and kicking it. Especially if it's older upholstery.
They are the same anyway. Reach up under there and feel for the body bracket that Jim C shows. Use something to push back and up and you are good to go. There's one on each side centered with the front seat.
His seat is stuck fast. I gave it a good shove and it didn't budge.
I generally put the seats all the way forward, sit on the rear seat floor and push with both feet, one side at a time. If I can get a helper to lift the seat as I let off, it usually comes free.

Yah. That's why you will have to actually push right on the seat frame next to the catch. Sometimes the seat structure isn't firm enough to just push on it(or kick) to release.
Push down on the back of the cushion and free the adhesion/cohesion between the seat back and seat bottom. Perhaps the bottom cannot move back because it's stuck from years of sun and crud "gluing" them together.

It doesn't have to move back if you deal with the seat frame right near the catch. Focus on the metal frame right near the catch.
Thanks all!!! I can't wait to get home tonight and take another stab at it. I managed accidently I think to get the drivers side free. Hopefully tonight I will have another accident. No really with all the info everyone has provided it should be easy. Thanks again.
