hey there....got a 68 bird that has ac and heat, though i am pretty sure the heater core was removed years ago. when driving the car i constantly have heat coming through the ac vents. where do you all think it is being sucked in from?
Mine (69) had lots of engine heat coming thru around the steering column, bad collar there...leakage...and if heater core still present and hooked up it could leak heat...
Not likely if the A/C is still installed. I've seen several cars with bad heater cores that were just bypassed or pulled because they leaked. But otherwise...yes, most definitely. Even leaving the heater core neck holes open will let hot air in.

Question. If the vacuum canister/system that runs all the under-dash AC vents is disconnected/disfunctional, will the vents be in the position for heat or AC? Also, the '68/68 did not have an inline water shutoff valve. That must keep a lot of heat down under the dash on the '69s.
Make sure your vacuum lines which go to the controls are in the correct spots. Mine are reversed due to my own stupidity. My heat comes out the a/c vents and vice versa.
The other option is that the vacuum canister which controls the vent opening in the firewall is disconnected (and door is open a bit) as a result. You should have one in the cowl, and RH kick panel.
If the flappers are open there still shouldn't be heat if everything is intact with heater core bypassed. He did say he thought it was bypassed/removed.
