I got a hitch for my vibe and it did not come in a box. Needless to say it was scratched up. So my question is how do you fix it? Can you paint over the powder coat?

This is one concern I have with powder coating the frame and other parts. How do you touch up the scratchs and nicks?

You can paint over it...prep it like normal paint....scuff up with 220 a little primer and hit with what ever color you want

Which would be better painted or powder coated frame?

My recommendation is always powder coating whenever possible. I had everything under my hood powder coated either 30% gloss black or 60% depending on how they should have been originally etc. Then some of the parts have been coated cast color etc. The majority of my stuff was done almost 5 years ago and it looks as good today as it did the day it was done. No chipping, no scratches nothing! I think it is by far the best option IMO...

can you powder coat an engine block? will the powder coat hold up on the heads to the temps that are on the exhaust ports?
